Had a dual chamber PM implanted in July. Complete heart block and pacing 99 percent of the time. Now my cardiologist (not the surgeon who implanted the PM) is saying perhaps another type of PM is needed or another lead inserted. Any comments about needing a replacement PM or additional lead would be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree with Frank. Same condition, two pacemakers (battery change) and only have two leads. If possible, can you get another opinion to see if there is a true reason for needing another lead?

From your description of Complete heart block and 99% pacing there shouldn't be any reason for changing it out. I've had the same condition since 2004, have had 2 Medtronics (replacement for battery), and done great.
There is always some condition that you haven't mentioned or don't know about that would benefit from a 3 lead pacer. Congestive heart failure is the only one that comes to mind.
Then there is also the possibility the the cardiologist would benefit $$$$ by the replacement.
My suggestion is to ask specifically why he is recommending the change. Get details.
