Hi all, I was discharged from Papworth hospital two weeks ago this coming Wednesday after a total pacemaker extraction went wrong and ended up having life saving open heart surgery as well as a new pacemaker put in. For just under two weeks I have had this strange bubbly sensation on the right side of my back that sometimes spreads on to my side and can then feel through my chest. It's only when I am in certain sitting positions that I can feel it and it is not painful, just uncomfortable. I went for an X-ray today and will wait for results but was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated

Hi Roxie, I agree with Peg, likely air, or what the ER doc called "post op emphasema.." I had same after my surgery, take care and keep going back to doc if you are not satified :)

You know you're wired when...

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.

Air is most likely trapped under your skin as a result of the surgery. You saw your Dr about this right? He listened to your chest and heart? If not go get checked. If I am right and if your lung has re expanded it's probably left over and will dissipate but please see the MD.
