The very first day I felt my incision area and it was nice and flat. Today is day four and it feels swelling. However, it seems to me that things always swell later after trauma? Any thoughts.

Glad you found our little group:) Lots of supportive members with lots of great advice and suggestions...but always discuss everything with your doctor to be on the safe side...ok?
As far as the swelling goes - the big thing to look for is: is your incision site red??? is it leaking any fluids??? Is the area really hot??? These could be signs of infection; which you would want to catch pretty quickly.
If you are in doubt of what your incision should look like a great way is to get your family doctor to look at it:)
As far as raising your arm by mistake - most of us have done this - the thing to look for (or feel) is if you ever did pull the lead, you would start to feel like you did prior to getting your pacemaker.
If you can - call your pacemaker clinic and discuss with it with them.
I'm sure other members will post their opinions too, but when in doubt - get it checked out.
Take care,
Pookie

Swelling and inflammation

There is a lot of difference between the way each of our bodies react to trauma. For me it's about 1-3 days if I cut a finger etc. Some degree of inflammation is just a good sign that your immune is handling the assault. I also seem to take about 2-3 weeks for an incision to completely heal. I don't remember what it was like in my younger days. (I'm 81)
