Had my first pm on dec 4 and all went well. Have noticed that the systolic is hanging out at around 135 to 145. Prior to crt-d by Boston Scien. It had been around 120. I have had a wide qrs at about .190 for many years [I am 67 now] have read that with the LV becoming in sync with the RV that there can be some pressure increases. Electro doc didn't mention and I don't have an appointment until in March. Pressure has been ok when get checked at the cardios office, but don't believe it. It is high for me and at a regular cardiologist in the ciba group.
Will this higher pressure regulate itself in time? I am taking quite a few meds now and just added another 80mg Diovan. I also just started doubling up on 20mg coreg cr. My asumption is that it is best to keep bp down below 130 for systolic.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I had just read an article about systolic often going up after getting rv and lv in sync. If I find the article I might show a link to it here.
I don't think I will worry that much about the pressure increase. Found out recently that a can do without viagra due to the heart pumping stronger. When it gets in sync there is a better pumping action.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.

Hi ptuner.... Glad that all has gone well with your implant.
I can't comment on the possibility that LV synchronising with the RV could affect your BP .... people more informed than me may have a view on this.
I wouldn't be too concerned if my systolic was " hanging around 135 to 145 " ( in fact mine is and I don't take any drugs ! ). As you know it is normal for blood pressure to increase with age .... in fact it used to be stated that you should only be concerned if your Systolic exceeds 100 plus your age ( that would be 167 in your case ! ) Now current thinking is to treat BP if your Systolic is CONSISTENTLY above 140 ... the word "consistently "
really is important.
Also I would be concerned about doubling up on drugs to hit your magical target of 130. Most side effects of hypertension drugs are dose-related so you could end up wondering which is worst ... a systolic of 130 and feeling dizzy all the time.. or a systolic of 140 and feeling fine.
I would live with it till your appointment in March and discuss it with your doc then.
Best of luck
Ian
