Scared

I had my surgery on July 13 and I was so afraid but with the doctor and nurses and all the comments that you all had for me I calmed down quite a bit. The surgery went fine and I'm just so grateful. It's kind of hard for me to remember not to raise my arm because its a natural reaction. I'm feeling quite well however sore and can't seem to get comfortable lying down so I sit in my recliner. I'm sure that will get better too.

Thank You!

Remembering arm

Glad things have gone well. It is hard to remember to keep the arm down. I gave my wife the job of yelling at me whenever she saw me headed for a stretch.

Have you tried laying on the side opposite the pacemaker and resting the upside arm on a pillow in front of you. The trick is to keep from letting upper arm fall down in front of you and squeeze the pacer site. I used this method to get a good nights sleep the first night after the implant.

Good News!

Glad to hear it went well for you! Frank made a great suggestion with the pillow. To this day I am most comfortable either hugging a pillow or even placing a thin pillow under my left arm when I sleep on my right side.

I hope your recovery continues to go well!

I'm having a difficult time trying to wear my bras and shirts/tops to fit without covering the site. and irritating it. So far I have only 2 bra type tops but the wound is still very noticeable and sore. Any suggestions?

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
