light shocking sensation

I have had this pacer for three years and a week ago I began too have a light shocking on the left where my pacer is . It starts on the left above the pacer placement and goes up my neck to my chin. The event lasts about 1 minutes or less and then does it off and on many times during the day. Any Ideas.

Pacemaker Shocks

by herb1013 - 2014-01-16 01:01:56

My pacemaker was implanted in my left shoulder in 2005. No problems. But since Dec 2012 I have been getting electrical shocks in my left shoulder. The shocks come every 2 to 4 minutes and last from 40 seconds to one minute. I became concerned in Jan so I made an appointment with my doctor. The factory rep checked the pacemaker on his laptop and the doctor checked my heart. All is fine they say. BUT I am still getting these electrical shocks every 2 to 4 minutes. They start towards the center of my left arm all of my left shoulder my left back to about my left shoulder blade and the left side of my neck to below my head and half of my neck front and back. The shocks happen everywhere. In bed asleep they wake me. Lying on my right side or my left side, driving my car, sitting or going to the bathroom and the only thing I have that generates electric is my pacemaker in my left shoulder. That has now been happening for 1 year.In Jan of 13 they said I had 2 years battery left.In July a different tech said I had 9 months battery left. In August they said I had 18 months left. Then in October they say I have 3 months left and will have to check me every month. My next check is 1/20 and I bet my battery is dead along with my pacemaker because it was producing shocks that were not needed either by faulty leads or a faulty pacemaker.

Little shocks

Thank you for your response - I left for a vacation in Mexico after my check with the emergency room doctor, and a pacer check with the tech. Every one says all is fine, but of course I know better. My decision to go ahead, was that If they bring me home in a box or can I had a good time and I'm tired of them saying nothing is wrong. I'm the same person that lived for 10 years with a problem and when they finally replaced the unit, what I had told nine Dr.s was something was making me deathly ill. I had two broken wires and they were so surprised. We know our bodies, but have little control over the machine that keeps us alive.
We arrived home on Friday the 30th of Jan., I'm still being shocked almost exactly as you explain. Thanks for taking the time to write. Jan

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
