1st pm check

Hi all, I have had my pm for just over a year now for complete heart block and had a check up about 4 weeks ago. All the checks seems to be fine. The only thing that concerns me is that I was told that I was being paced 13% in the atrium! They think this is occurring because my sleep rate is slipping below my pm's lower rate. Just wondered if anyone else had come across this. My ventricle rate is 99% which is to be expected.

They have given me a night mode with a lower level setting to try SMS reduce my atrial pacing.

Night pacing

My resting HB is 56 - 58. My pacer is set to 60, which means I do use it when sleeping. I think having a night mode setting is a great idea. I wasn't aware there was such a thing. Maybe after I'm stablized, I'll ask about that one. I'm curious to hear back from you about how that is working for you.

Atrial pacing

I had my PM checked a couple of weeks ago to rule out the pacemaker as being a cause of a bout of dizziness. I am pacing 85% of the time in the atria and 97% in the ventricle. They never figured out why I went into third degree heart block so suddenly; the guess is that it was a virus. I assumed that the virus just finished its work. However, having the pacemaker gives me peace of mind that technology got the better of mother nature this time. I don't feel any different than when the pacemaker was first implanted and I was pacing at a much lower rate. I hope the new settings work for you, but I have found my on board computer to be up to any challenge. The only downside is that pacing that much does shorten the battery life.

Wish you well,
Carol
