Good Morning everyone...I got my PM last year in April. I have had a so-so year but I have been getting better in "baby steps". I went in for a PM check up last Thursday & I have not felt right since then.
The tech lowered my rate to 35 twice & brought it back up to set 75 as my rate (I think). He did not tell me anything about my PM. The doctor did tell me that he found that I have a murmur now & they did an echo on me. I do not know the results yet.
I had two ablations over the last few years before getting the PM. My questions is...can I still have afib for long periods & have a PM? I feel so bad all of the time. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks & stay safe.

Thank you for responding to my post. You helped me and gave me much needed encouragement.
I am happy that your last surgery has helped you. Are you feeling better now ? I hope so.
I would like to find another heart doctor but our town is small & the doctor that I use is supposed to be the best here. I did go to Jackson, MS to get the ablations done but it was hard on my husband.....sleeping in a chair for about a week.
It will be a week tomorrow since I had the tech check out my PM and my heart is still bothering me. It still skips, jumps, missed beats etc & my BP is staying high. I am so tired and feel so bad that I can't so much.
I have not heard how my Heart Echo turned out.
My doctors wife fired most on his staff ( I don't know why) & I am dealing with people that has not helped me. My husband called them on Monday trying to get in touch with the nurse practitioner, but no one called us back.
I am trying to get another appointment so I can get help and get better.
I am sorry to whine so. It has been a long uphill struggle to get my life back since my illness in 2009. God is good and I am better than I was then. I will keep trying and keep praying. Bless you for responding. I hope that you have a wonderful day.

It made a HUGE difference in my life. Once I got it, I was finally able to run, and ride my bike long distances.

Well Hi, I just read your Bio find it very complete & interesting. As you said you have been Blessed and I certainly agree with that. I just had another surgery a few weeks ago which is #14 in my 80 years of life. I was Blessed with my 1st PM at age 60 & didn't need support until a few years ago. Finding this site has been very uplifting.
As you asked about having afib with your PM, yes but you usually need your PM to control your HR. I presently have my afib under control with meds as I inherited the afib from my mother. She lived with afib for 30 years without any rhythm meds till age 101. My recent heart problem started with my last chemical stress test, reaction. Fortunately a number of echo heart tests showed heart pericardial fluid & surgery saved my life. In my case my test results were critical in getting them to my Dr. I also want to stress getting the right Dr to get you feeling good. As I don't have much choice that way because my wife works cardiac floor with the hospitals top Drs. Sometimes I've found my "Family" feeling amongst the last 4 Drs I had with my last surgery is wearing very thin. So, keep well and soon you'll be my age with my happy PM.
