My battery is getting low and the doctor said it has about 2-12 weeks left. It’s also a defibrillator. The tech told me that now they use a wireless set up. Like when I have to call and put that pad over my ICD then it gathers the information then transmits the results to the tech. She said to just put the pad on long enough to wake up the pacemaker. Have to get a new carelink monitor when they replace my ICD. Also, I have to have AED training as part of my job duties; can I safely use an AED with a ICD?
Thank you and I am new to this club.

Yes, when my icd was replaced in Sept. I was also sent a new monitor. it doesn't have a cord. It automatically picks up pacemaker when I'm within 6 or 8 feet from it. Its kinda nice not to have to stand there and wait for . I do still have to answer the weekly questions.
Not to sure about the AED, sorry
oh wow

Thanks everyone, and so appreciative for your input.I know that, those people who have pacemakers or ICD's can't be around magnets particulary! one's that generate like induction motors or speakers etc.Not sure if the AED has magnets, and or just generates electrical currents,or both.Once again thanks all.

Hi there and welcome.I just, recently joined and agree it's nice to chat with folks that have these pacemakers.I have the ICD which is a defibbuator. Not sure on that spelling lol. But,I just read medtronic who made mine now has introduced a pacemaker that now is able to be placed in a safe mode while having an MRI done. The FDA has approved it.Back in 06 they ran an CT scan couldn't find anything. Then about an hour later they ran MRI scan and found I had a small stroke.I wish you the best and keep in touch ok! and you have a good day and in time you won't even realize you have a pacemaker only by feeling it.Once again! welcome to the club.Respectfully,Sidman

Hi! It is nice to have someone to talk to that understands! Everyone who doesn't have a pacemaker thinks it is not big deal! I had my pacer put in two weeks ago. I decided to Google to look for a bra that wouldn't hurt and found this club! I am glad to know that I am not alone.
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

I hope they get to it soon. A run of defibs could exhaust the battery completely in short order.
