Be very careful

The surgical people should have suggested what you could and could not do. Even your doctor's office should be able to offer their best suggestions. Best to call and find out.

I was always told NOT to do anything with the surgical site until it completely healed. Too much of a danger of breaking open the incision and causing an infection.

You don't want any liquids directly on the site because of a danger of infection. I had to wait until it healed completely before I could put anything on it. When bathing I had to cover the site with a thick towel and pat it dry if it got a little wet.

After the scar healed, it was months before I could do anything other than to pat it with a wet towel and then pat it dry.

You want to be very careful with the surgical site.

Infection

Heat can also be a sign of infection. Also from the device it self, can mean that there is a problem with the equipment.

yes

I was told a heating pad on low, with a towel, for no more than 15 min was ok. I found ice felt better, however, but try both.
