Been a year since my PM was installed for bradycardia. Five years prior to that I had an ablation for A flutter. After 2 trips to the emergency room over the weekend with a HR in the 130-135 range I find out that my PM is pacing that high because I'm having A flutter issues again. Too fast, too slow and back to too fast again. Talking about another ablation for the flutter and while in will deal with any possible future A fib issues. Anyone else have this much fun?

A 30 minute run of NoCardia would solve it, but I wouldn't recommend it. LOL

Hi Gordy,

Sorry about your weekend but at least something positive could come from it.
l also had an ablation about 4yrs ago for atrial flutter & l am fortunate that mine is still sucessful but l am in permanent Afib still & l think will have to face more ablations as drugs don't seem to affect it at all.
So at least you will get yours done & out of the way pretty soon & will be back here telling us all how good you feel,
Goood luck, Sue x
PS Frank ! you are naughty !!!

Hello Gordy ... sounds as though you had a great weekend ; I have a hangover but that is not in your league !
Looking at your situation positively ,you have had 5 years without atrial flutter and presumably your PM has been doing its job. I have noticed that cardiac ablations often get bad press on this forum but my understanding is that if you have atrial flutter ( as opposed to atrial fibrillation) then ablation is the accepted treatment of choice.
My cardiologist quoted 95 % cure-rates for flutter from ablations but he did concede that some people need more than one ablation to bring about permanent cure.
Also, as you know, actually having an ablation is no worse than a trip to the dentist providing you choose the electrician carefully.
I look forward to you telling us in a year's time that you've just had the best weekend of all time ( and I bet I'll have another hangover ! )
Cheers
Ian
