Hi
I've used a lawn mower many times since I got my ICD. Never had a problem.
Snow season is coming soon and I'm considering getting a self-propelled 2 stage snow blower. Has anyone with an ICD had trouble using a snow-blower?
I know we aren't supposed to lean over car engines beacuse of possible interference. My lawnmower hasn't been a problem but I'm thinking a snow-blower engine is a little bigger and just a little bit closer to the device.
Thanks for any input.

Snowblowers And Pacemakers

The ignition system on the snow blower is very unlikely to affect your pacemaker. I have learned the hard way to never say never about anything when it comes to pacemakers. However should the electromagnetic field from the snow blower ignition system affect your PM it will feel like a very irregular heart beat. Should that happen shut off the blower motor or just get a couple of feet away from the blower and your heart rate will return to normal in a few seconds. There will be no harm done to you or the PM.
If you read all the cautions listed for pacemakers you will see there are quite a few. I think most of those were written for the pacemakers made 30 to 40 years ago. Today's PM is shielded well enough that few things will affect it. For example the running car engine. Mine has never bothered me and in fact I have never heard anyone say their PM was affected by the ignition or alternator on a car.
