Does anyone else notice more chest pain or irregular heartbeats when you are overly tired? I recently started overnight shifts and have been having a lot of chest pain. I am very tired and know how lack of sleep can affect the body but I was having problems before the shift change too, not as significant tho. Now I get the pain, dizziness, nausea, and confusion almost nightly. It's out of hand.

I talked with my doctor about it a few weeks ago but since that talk it has been getting worse. He said to just slow down and not stress about it. He started me on Nadolol (Corguard) to help since I have been having a lot of bouts of atrial tachy and a-fib. Since I started on the med, I have been dizzy and nauseous. The chest pain is different than the usual scar tissue pain that I sometimes get. Its in my solar plexus and it feels like a vice is clamped around my chest. It makes it hard to swallow and breathe. Its just weird. I don't have any digestive system issues. Aside from my heart, I have always been a very healthy person.
I called the doctor and explained what is going on. He said that I should stay on the med for another week to see if things get better. My bp has been 80/45 for a couple of days now and the highest its been since starting the med is 93/55. Since I have hypovolemia and autonomic nervous system disfunction, the lowered numbers is no good. I work in a children's hospital and I'm getting worried that I won't be able to perform my job functions without passing out. I've passed out twice at work now and I'm worried that they will let me go because of it.

...& anxiety in your post & comment.
May NOT be your main issue, but it certainly affects your overall situation. Trust me - stress & anxiety CAN cause the exact symptoms you have - or exacerbate them if they are caused by a physical illness.
Uh - I don't think you should have to worry about being fired for being sick. If you are truly sick & not dogging it, the Americans w/ Disability Act was written to protect you, even though it is inappropriately used by people who are not really sick. If you even get a HINT that they plan to fire you - GET A LAWYER! MOF - get one right now & chalk it up to relieving stress & anxiety.
STOP worrying about that issue - it does NOT help your medical situation.
Calling your MD on the phone does NOT qualify as "Seeing a doctor." That means going into his office & spilling your guts to him. He already recognizes a stress component to your problem - he said it. That is not enough. He needs to talk turkey w/you about stress & anxiety as an adjunct to your physical issues.
Good luck.

I totally understand what Amber is talking about. I am almost a yr out from aortic valve replacement and PM insertion 3 days after due to complete heart block. Was doing pretty good until end of summer when tachy's started occuring in the upper chamber. I am getting intense chest tightening and pain in left side of chest and extreme fatigue. I seem to be stepping backwards instead of forward, very frustrating.PM tech won't adjust settings but states I will have to have abalation or medication to correct but after 7 months of this I wonder if new settings wouldn't help. I'm pacing at 70, mode is DDDR and Max Track rate is 130. Very hard to work when you have no energy and chest pain occuring. Hang in there-good news is we are still ticking!

See The Dr ASAP

You have been told to see a dr, so I'll repeat that. However I'll add that at least two of the symptoms, pain and nausea, have been present when I've had a heart attack. The excessive tiredness could come from a weak heart, but if are having all these things nightly, I doubt that they are totally heart related. All the more reason to see your dr ASAP. Irregular heart beats I have never noticed with my heart attacks (there have be three) but then I wasn't very observant during those times.
Good luck,
