Your pacemaker itself can't cause a seizure, but a problem with it can.

I had a nasty little surprise called "cross talk". It put me into a full blown seizure and coma. Once I came out of it and the pacemaker was interrogated, they saw the cross talk and was able to make pacemaker adjustments so it doesn't happen again. I then had an EP study done to confirm and make sure it wasn't anything else.

Please have your PM checked for this. It doesn't happen often but can be a problem. Mine was caused by combination of overuse of the muscles and an electrolyte imbalance hitting on the T wave at just the right time. Rare, you bet, but it can happen.

When I got cross talk it happened because my muscles sent electrical signals inappropriately and made the PM think my heart was working (I'm 100% dependent) so it stopped sending its impulses. I had what they called a "heart seizure" that set off a myoclonic seizure.

Such fun. For me, I didn't know a thing, but for my family it was horrifying.

Hope this helps some.
Best to you,
Gellia

I had a pacemaker installed in 2002, due to a black out due to low blood pressure which caused my heart to stop. I also have seizures, not sure why ? I have been taking seizure meds since my 20's, I am now 51. The doctors thought the pacemaker would stop the seizures, but no. I was taken off my seizures meds to "test" if they would stop. They have not stop. Also, stress causes many of my seizures. My seizure, I lose awareness for a few minutes. Good Luck and be careful.
