Just want to let everyone know I am schedule for the laser lead extraction in 2 weeks. They will try to extract 3 of my leads (2 are 27 years old and 1 is 17 years old - 2 ventricular and 1 artrial). I have had lead fractures in the past and with this new fracture they will not put in anymore leads without extracting the old. 4 leads is the maximum they will allow in the superior vena cava. I am a veteran with pacemakers - having had 4 battery replacements in the past and another in about a year. Also have had ablations and a few other minor problems. I am expecting this procedure to go well and hopefully no comlications. I will let you know how everything goes after the procedure since I can't find many of you who have had the laser procedure done. There will be a cardiothoracic backup team standing by just in case there are any complications. Wish me luck.

I had two leads removed a year ago. It was a long and hard process but had to be done. The longer the leads are in, the harder to remove due to scar tissue. It is good you're having it done. You will do fine I'm sure.

lead extraction

What was the result to this? im 38 and have actually lost count of the number if pm's i have had due to one thing or another. The lead im living on at the mo is in since 1990 and was nicked with the blade while the were cutting me open in march this year. So as a result the resistance is down from 590 to 200. The machine can only read 200 so it could be lower. So we talked about extraction. So after reading some stuff on hear im a bit scared as it is not really done over here at all. So at the mo i go back every 3 months for a check on the battery etc. How bad is it?

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
Will be htinking about you!
