DOES ANYONE HAVE A PAIR OF LEADS GOING ACROSS THE CHEST INTO THE HEART FROM THE OUTSIDE, INSTEAD OF THRU THE VEINS INTO THE HEART ?
ORIGINAL PACER WAS IMPLANTED IN 1989 AT THE AGE OF 19. WHEN I HAD THE LEADS EXTRACTED IN 2001 BY DR. CHARLES BYRD, HE PUT MY NEW PACER LOWER INTO MY RIGHT CHEST, PUT LEADS ACROSS MY CHEST AND DIRECTLY INTO MY HEART.
I HAVE ALOT OF REALLY SHARP INTENSE CHEST PAIN.
ECHO AND CT LOOK GOOD. WAS TOLD I HAVE ALOT OF SCAR TISSUE FROM SURGERY.
WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS LEADS PLACED LIKE MINE AND HOW ARE YOU DOING.
THANKS

I have an ICD with leads such as you described. They were also put in by Dr. Byrd in Ft. Lauderdale. I hear he has retired. I have had no problems with his leads which he put in because other leads were infected. He had to fight a lot of scar tissue to get mine in. But I have never had any pain. Wish you luck.
