Is it possible?

Is it possible for the pacemaker to make it's way to pushing through the skin and making it painful to the touch? This has been happening for about 3 months now and is very painful to the touch. I've had it since June 2010.

It's called erosion and you need to have it checked out. The first thing to do is rule out infection. The best person to do that may be an infectious disease specialist rather than your cardio/ep, but start with whoever you see for the pm. Good luck!

Had my implant last year and after 3weeks moved out of pocket and wires were trying to poke threw skin. Extremely sore even to wear a shirt over. Finally ep done a reimplant to fix to keep from getting infected.

I have the same problem

I am now almost 6 months out from my first pacemaker after a diagnosis of complete heart block. The edge of the pacemaker feels sharp under my skin and like the others above is extremely sensitive.
My surgeon said it happens occasionally - the pacemaker rubs the fat away from under the skin. I have no infection so he said he can redo the surgery and place the pacemaker under the muscle, but that application is more involved and can lead to infection. I opted not to do that.
It has gotten a little less sensitive and I can only hope that it will continue to improve.
I hope your situation improves as well.

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.
