Doing Well

Hello to my new friends,

This is Daniel. After all of your help and encouragement, I had my defibrillator put in on 4/20. Everything went well. I did have a hard time sleeping for about 5 days, but now have no problem sleeping on my side or stomach. Oh happy days!! Still careful though, don't want to pull out the lead. See my Doctor on 5/13. I do have a question. About how long will it take to get used to the tightness where the ICD was put in? I'm assuming that it will mostly go away with time, but I hoping to hear from the "experts" here, ha. I really do appreciate all of you and this site!

GOD Bless,

Daniel

Give it 3 months or so

Especially with an ICD which is a bit larger (so I hear) than my pacer. It takes a while for the skin over the pacer to stretch a bit. Glad it is working out well.

I'm two years with my ICD; it will take time for your skin to stretch. It will itch a little bit (mostly in cold weather for me) Be good, don't raise your arms. The first couple of months after the implant all I could think about was the ICD and thinking about how it felt. Now, I don't even think about it. Good luck and don't raise those arms!

8 weeks and still have tightness

My ICD was 8 weeks ago and I still have some of the tightness and occasional "stinging" in the area. I think it just takes time. You've conquered sleeping much faster than me, so who knows how quickly your body might respond>

You know you're wired when...

You run like the bionic man.
