9 week check up tomorrow

Today is 9 weeks since I had my pm placed in my chest. I swear it is a GPS so that my family can track me down whenever they want.LOL. Since it was put in they know where I am all the time... I want to hide!!!

Anyway, tomorrow is my EP checkup and I have made my checklist:

1. Copy of interrogation report
2. Double check all my settings
3. Get my Upper Tracking Limit raised to at least 140 (wish me luck with that one)
4. Make sure Rate Response is on "OFF"
5. Find out if my PM does a daily self test and if yes, at what time during the day.
6. Ask about my ADL setting and see if it appropriately set for me.
7. Any limitations to exercising, such as arm exercises that could pinch the leads and cause fracturing. (Do you think this is a good question)
8. Ask about the pros and cons of getting a heart rate monitor to keep tabs on HR when exercising.

So did I leave anything out? It will be 6 months before I see the EP again and want to make sure I get my nickel's worth.

Thanks everyone!!!!

Great Questions!

Maybe ask what medications are recommended for sniffles and coughs. I am not one to call a Dr. every time I sneeze so I want something on hand during allergy season. My Dr. said nothing with a "D" on it.
I know what you mean about the GPS. The only place I can hide where they can't find me is the casino. :) and then I have to "give up" when I run out of $$.... LOL
Sounds like you got a good handle on it.
Let us know what they say and all your "readings"

You are prepared!

Yikes! I just posted the results of my 3 month check-up before I read your post. Don't let mine discourage you! I am ok, just had to blow off some steam. Sounds like you are prepared. I went today and asked about home monitoring via phone. I should be receiving it in a few days. Please don't forget to give us an update! Jeane/Dallas

Question

Just curious as to why you want your rate response turned OFF?

I had a lot of problems getting my rate response to fit my needs. (pacer since november of 2004!!!)

Last interrogation (last month) the tech turned the Optimization to OFF....I can't explain it, but I think it really helped me.

My gut has always told me (not knowing a lot about pacemakers tho) that the rate response is key to how we feel and until we have it set exactly to our individual needs...some of us feel just awful.

Do you know if your pacemaker rep will be in attendance? sometime my Medtronic rep is there, sometimes not, but I get much further with her there!!!

good luck and let us know what happens.

Take care,
Pookie
