New member

Hi, I'm new to this club on behalf of my son. He was a preemie @ 31wks and has complete heart block along with other CHD.
He had his pacemaker implanted @ 6 days old. He has the smallest single chamber PM available. Today was his 3 month follow up, they reduced the amplitude from 4.5 to 2.5, I'm wondering if they will reduce this each time and if the only implication is less drain on the battery.(He's paced 100%).
Thanks,
Melanie

Welcome to the PM Club. You will find this site one of the most educated and friendly sites, with the sweetest people ever. Each person who is a PM Club member has so much insight on so many, many subjects. Every time someone "throws" a new question out as a "post", member(s) have the most/best information. Even the doctors do not tell you what you can learn from all the experience(s) these PM Club members have.

What a sweetie the lil' one sounds like. Your son will benefit from all the "comments" you have to all your questions you "post".

May you and your sweet lil' son have the very best FIRST Christmas ever. HAPPY HOLIDAYS ~

Welcome aboard! I'm glad to hear your son is doing well. They often start it high to give the heart a chance to get used to being paced, then cut it back to the minimum needed in order to conserve battery power. They will make small adjustments from time to time, but generally they find what works then leave it alone.

I have congenital CHB also. I'm 43 now, a busy mom, very healthy and active. Having a heart condition has rarely slowed me down! Best wishes for your son.

Congratulations!

How about that! A new baby boy. Woo Hoo! I never had the honor of raising a son so I am all the more excited for you. There are a number of pacer friends here who will be able to help you. I just wanted to welcome you aboard.

Welcome to the club, it will be a lifeline when you are down, my daughter was born with problems, not heart related, so i know how hard it is for us mums. But I also know that i now have a gorgeous, confident, fit daughter who i'm really close to!

God bless, merry christmas!
