6 month check up

Hello to everyone
I haven't posted anything in a long time but always stop in and read the posts most every day and I wanted to give an update on my condition.
Had my 6 month check up on Thursday and it was not one of my better ones. The lead from my pacemaker to my upper chamber is giving off some different readings and is probably going to need to be replaced. The pacemaker made corrections and it is working ok. We are going to monitor it for the next 3 months and see what happens and then decide the proper course of action. My battery has about 12 - 18 months of life left and probably will need replaced about the time I turn 65. That ought to be interesting, insurance or medicare.
During the last month or so I have been feeling tired, shortness of breath with some exertion and getting dizzy when bending over. It has been very hot here in PA and I think the heat has a lot to do with how I feel but the dr wants to make sure. My dr wants me to have some more blood work to check my thyroid and see if i have any other deficiencies and if that is inconslusive then I may have to have a stress test and a look at my arteries to see if there is any blockage. My upper chamber is pacing about 40% of the time and my lower chamber is pacing about 100% of the time.
I have had 7 great years with my pacemaker and looking forward to another 20 or so, but we always have bumps in our lives just to remind us how lucky we are to be alive.

Replacement?

by Blue - 2010-07-26 04:07:36

I had my pm replaced last week. Prior to that I felt dizzy when bending over and could not walk up a slope without puffing. I was very tired and found I was getting short or breath. My pm was 6 3/4 years old. Sometimes our batteries doe not last as long as they say, depending on how much we pace.

I don't think the heat is very kind to pm folks. I know I just cannot take the heat anymore and am glad we moved to a cooler climate long before I needed a pm.

I hope all goes well for you and I am sure you will feel better when you get your replacement.

Sincere wishes from oz

So glad you 'posted' again to update all of your Friends on the PM Club site.

Sure glad to see you only had 'bumps' in your life and not 'pot holes' in your road to life ~ Without a PM, most of us who 'posts'/comments' would not even be here at all.
