Great News!

Hello Everyone,

It's been awhile since I posted, but today a fellow member contacted me with a question and I realized I must drop in and give an update.

Prior to my ICD/CRT-D implant on December 9, 2009 I was on this forum constantly and it was immensely helpful. Since the implant, I've had no episodes and feel sooooooo much better. My Ejection Fraction improved from 15-20% to 35%...not perfect but a huge difference for me. I exercise...cardio/weights/isometrics almost daily and have fine tuned my diet/vitamins/supplements which have a definite positive impact on my energy level.

I've travelled to Hawaii, California and Florida a few times with no problems. At first I was a bit nervous, but no more. I have a Boston Scientific Latitude Monitor by my bed which monitors my CRT-D. So far I haven't taken it on any of my trips.

So thanks again to everyone here and to my docs at South Denver Cardiology!!!

If anyone is nervous or has questions about their situation, feel free to contact me.

Thanks!

Ron

That's the kind of report we like to hear.

I wish folks would catch on that staying near home and medical help doesn't make us live longer..it just seems longer.

enjoy,

Great News:)

It's always nice to read these kind of posts.

I could write a book about my pacemaker "adventure", but suffice it to say, it took me a long time to finally accept that I should forget about my pacemaker and get back to living my life. I look back now and truly see that I spent soooooooooo much time worrying about my pacemaker. Worrying did nothing but make me feel worse.

Yes, it's true, that at first most of us go through a period of stress, worry, or anxiety, but unless one is having problems with their pacemaker (or ICD) then the best medicine is to get back to "normal" as fast as you can.

"A pacemaker assists your heart, it doesn't take the place of your heart"......thanks to Smitty (I'm quite sure he posted this, not in these exact words, but it sure stuck with me!!!!!!!! Thanks Smitty).

Take care everyone,
Pookie

Energy

by sonya - 2011-07-25 03:07:35

Ronnie, Hi. My EF has went from 10 a year ago to about 30% now. The problem is I don't have hardly any energy. My short term memory is terrible. I just turned 44 in March. Do you mind sharing with me some good vitamins or supplements for energy? I know my medication has a lot to do with it but anything would help. Thanks.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
