Can I do Chin-Ups?

Has anyone successfully worked into a chin-up routine with a PM implant? Needlees to say, I want to get back some upper body strength. Am I fooling myself?

Thanks for sharing. Ron

I'm back up to my preimplantation strength after a few years of doubting. 15 to 16 pullups no big deal. Just work back into a regime slowly.

I don't do pullups/chinups but I do militarys sometimes and a bit of bench pressing. I use a smith machine with safety bars and limit my range of motion and keep the weight reasonable. My EP is o.k. with the climbing but I suspect that he would rather I did not do benches and militarys. I have kind of quit on those exercises as it makes me nervous. Climbing is a great exercise. You are still pulling up and stretching but can use your legs to offset some of the weight. At 230lbs. pullups/chinups are not for me - they are a skinny mans exercise :)

There are many thing you can do to build upper body. Pullups/Chinups stretch the max. and then some. The exact position you don't want to be in. At least with Militaries you can stop short of locking out, you can probably do this with pullups also.

I'm on my fourth pm. I've had one for 25 years. After a new one is implanted I don't raise my arm over my head for a couple of weeks. After that I lift weights and jog.. I do every lift that I want to including chin ups at full extention. Have had pm on both sides of my chest and never had any problem So go ahead and lift.

Pull-ups chin-ups

I was advised to not do pull-ups because the leads pass between the upper rib and collarbone and will be pinched. This seems to make sense with shoulder presses , but not pull-ups.  Any comments from those familiar with exercise anatomy?

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
