Care while fireing long guns

Does anyone know how long it takes for the fibrous tissue to encapsolate the leads in the heart before it would be safe to fire a rifle or shotgun as not to dislodge a heart lead. If anyone knows this or has had personal experince with this please respond thank's.

6 weeks

By 6 weeks you should be able to do anything you feel up to. I like sporting clays with a shotgun and sometimes we do targets at the range with a rifle. I don't remember how long I waited, but it wasn't months and months.

Most of us never feel the pm working but there are members here who say they can. The jolt that it uses is very small, it's simply mimicking what our heart should be doing on its own. Sometimes they start it at a higher voltage than we really need then turn it down next time they check it, that could be what you're feeling. The faster beat may feel noticeable and odd, but you probably are not feeling the pm's impulse.

The two things you need to watch for if you shoot at 5 weeks are 1) don't raise your arm above shoulder level until after that 6 week mark because it's possible (not probable, but not impossible either) to yank out a lead. and 2) if your pm is on the side where you hold the butt of the gun against your shoulder, make sure you don't hit it when absorbing the recoil. That goes for any time, not just the first 6 weeks. You won't damage the pm, but it'll hurt!

Thank's Tracey
I did ask my Dr. about this exact thing in person however he has no experience with any type of firearms but has had no problems with patiants that did. I told him that we are hoping to fire off 3 rounds in about 3 weeks that would put me 5 weeks out however I think that I will have a friend do this for me than i could use it 2 weeks later and if all works out might shoot it once or twice at most. So that sounds like you are point on with your time frame.
*PS: I belive that I felt my PM fire off today about 4 times is it normal to feel it in the begning until your use to it?

Well week 6 finaly came and I was able to fire my 7mm mag after consulting with my DR's and them consenting to me doing so, Now I do have a muzzle break and a Sims Vibration recoil pad installed on it to reduce the recoil as I have severe back problems, anyhow I was able to fire my rifle with no adverse effects to my pm at least as I can tell and with Dead on accuracy. Thank's to all who gave me their opnions and advice
