left vs. right

In some cases the doc will switch from left to right side for device implanting if access on the left is not good. As they don't usually replace leads for a device change, I am not sure why your doc might want to do that - unless he is thinking for some reason there might be lead issues then as well.....
My doc prepared me for that possibility - due to potential access issues - and he said - at least in my case- it would be a more complilcated surgery (3 hours, vs less than one) - but your case may be very different - your best bet is to ask questions. Ask early, ask often, and ask until the answer makes sense. good luck. PD

hey, thanks for the replies :)
I got my pm changed to the other side - so two surgeies in one :P wasn't to bad just really painful in both arms after. It was cause there was to much tissue damage on one side so it would be to tormactic to do surgery on that side again :P XX but really now i just have more scars :P xx

ballerine: Hi ~ it sounds like you have had a lot of experience during your years having PM's. I am only working on the 1st month of my 1st PM. Speaking of left or right sides for PM, I would think what and how you do things on which side would definitely affect which side you would want the PM on, IF you have a choice. I do know people who use guns/rifles, etc. should be careful which side they choose due to which end of the gun on which the shoulder/chest area when they shoot and the gun butt "knocks" them in the shoulder from the blast of the bullet. This might cause a problem with the PM area. Since it is TEXAS' deer hunting season, I hear people talking about this.
You sound like you have a lot going for you ~ hey, teens & tweens ~ ballerine would like to hear from your experiences I am sure. Hang in there, Carolyn G. in TEXAS
