I have had totally radical blood pressure after the PM was installed. My doc started me off at 90 BPM and 6 weeks later dialed it down to 80 and then 5 weeks later down to 60 where it is supposed to stay. He said none of these settings would affect my BP. However each time my rate was lowered my BP got better (lower) over time. Now my BP is perfect 9 times out of 10 when I check it.
Question, has anyone else had this experience?
Thanks!!!

Thank you for your note. Based on my experience and now yours I think they should do a study on this.
Good luck!

high bp after surgery

HI i received my pace maker just one month ago for progressive heart block and six sinus sendrum. Before i recieved my pace maker my blood pressure was in the 100s over 50s which was average for my age 11. My heart rate was usaully in the 40s and 30s before pacemaker. After surgery they set my pace maker at 60 my blood pressure then was in the 140s ove 80s. They then set me down to 50. Not because of the high blood pressure though it was because my pace maker was pacing me 100 percent and the doctor wanted my heart to be pacing atleast 30 percent of the beats so he set pacemaker down to 50. then the pacemaker was pacing 70 percent and me 30 percent. My blood pressure then was in the 130s over 60s and still is 1 month later. My mom and i noticed this and asked the doctor if there would be any reason why my blood pressure would rise after the surgery he and the pacemaker nurse both said no there is no reason why it would rise after wards. Recently i have been trying a diet of one fruit per day one veggie per day one teaspoon of flax seed per day one serving of fish per week 20 min of exercise three times a week and daily vitamins every day. i have not seen any differences in blood pressure i will tell you if i do. I am glad to know that some one out there has high blood pressure and suspects it because of the pace maker too. Thanks again. Bye
