I'm finishing my second year with a device and I swim between 1000 and 3000 meters every day. I used to be a distance swimmer so the only stroke I use is a crawl and I've had no issues whatsoever. In fact, I do everything I did prior to the implant and I don't even notice it's presence at all. And yes, that includes using chain saws, lifting weights, and backpacking (all of which get frequent questions on this site).
Ask your cardiologist

I said during my fitting, some 6 months ago, "I swim front crawl" - the cardiologist doing the implant left a slight coil on the pacing wire to allow for full arm extension during crawl.
I have heard of wires being pulled out of the heart muscle with extreme exercise involving full extension- so have a chat with your cardiologist to make sure there is enough slack on the wires. That being the case swimming, is excellent exercise and quite safe.
I gave it 6 weeks to heal after fitting, keeping fit by riding my bicycle whilst waiting for full healing. I now swim to a rate of my previous best before fitting and feel better as my heart rate now increases. I always thought my slow heart rate was fitness - but is wasn't!
You know you're wired when...
Your heart beats like a teenager in love.

As soon as you get past 6 weeks, you can do any exercise that doesn't hurt or risk a direct impact to the pm site.
Spain is one of my favorite places! Have a wonderful visit.
