hi, I have afrial fib, atrial futter, RVR, I throw pvc, I am usually in atrial fib nearly all the time. I already had an ablation in May of this year. Until January I had no heart troubles, then I had hyopthyroidism, rapid atrial fib, after my ablation I got uclerated colitis. I am on synthroid, cardizem, MULTAQ, lowpressor, potassium, with little to no help, only cardizem IV or lowpressor IV pull me out of afib. I just started Multaq last Tuseday, I got a headache that won't quit, dizzy, and still have afib and aflutter about 140-190 for about 16 hours in a 24 hour time period. I can't walk and talk at the same time without having trouble breathing. I have an event monitor now, my ekg's when the doctors at the er read them they say are scarry looking. anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or more information on MULTAQ. A second ablation might be the way to go but I think my rate got worse since the first ablation, no I know it did. I go to the er at least 3 times a week. Carolann

Multaq

I have A-fib and my doctor talked to me about trying Multaq a few weeks ago. He explained that it was very new, but the trial results showed it may help me. Then he went over quite a list of possible side effects I was to watch for and call him immediately if I experienced any of them. After we talked more I had to say I didn't want to try it right now and would prefer to stay on my cardizem. He agreed I shouldn't try it if I was concerned. From what I could see this has the potential to be helpful or deadly.
In case you havent seen them, some of the possible side effects he told me to watch for were:
Signs of a new or worsening arrhythmia, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, or a rapid heart rate
Signs of low potassium or low magnesium levels (electrolyte imbalances), such as: Muscle weakness, muscle cramps, confusion or disorientation, signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Good luck,
J,B,
