Had my first pacemaker implanted in 2009, and I thought everything was going great. This was a two lead device, and the lower lead went bad a couple of years ago. We continued to monitor the device, both at home and physical visits at the doctor's office. Two months ago I did my home device check, and two weeks later I got a call from the doctor for an appointment, and since I didn't have one scheduled, I almost refused. Well went in, and the Medtronic Specialist did her thing, and the doctor came in for a chat. Well it appears my device was not pacing as required Not only was the lower lead not working, but the upper lead was pacing on a part time basis, and I didn't feel a thing. The doctor showed me the EKG and the heart had been skipping some beats. The skips were about three to five seconds. He had me go straight to the hospital that evening, and implanted a new one on the right side the next day. I have two wounds one on the left side where the old one was taken out and one on the right side where the new one now resides. Sorry for being so long winded. Any ever had that little problem.

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!

Feels good; waiting for the wounds to heal. A follow-up with the doctor on November 13th; and I will find out if I can do more. You never really know all that you do without thinking about it, now just putting a tee shirt on, I need assistance. Cannot raise the arms above my head.
