My original leads were in for almost 21 years. They changed mine because I had my PM moved so my originals are still inside of me the doctor didn't want to remove them because they were so imbeaded (sp) into my heart. I know after awhile they start checking the leads when they do a replacement surgery for the PM. That is what they did the last few replacements that I had done before I wanted it to be moved. Good luck with everything.

They only replace the leads if there's a problem. They last on average 15-20 years. Occasionally they go bad sooner, sometimes they last much longer.
