If you are suspicious that the ICD has fired, please call the physician's office where it was implanted and tell them. Otherwise, you should go to the ER and have the device interrogated.
ICD shocks can be a harbinger of many things, but they should be checked out.

Had my ICD checked this morning and it did not fire. He said it could have been a p/m nightmare, muscle spasms or just about anything. The ICD is fine and my battery is still holding at 2.55 since Oct 09.
Thanks for your help
Mike

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

That happened to me once, also in the middle of the night, and it turned out to be nothing dangerous. It was pretty freaky, though.
