Last week, my wife , after 10 years had her ST.Jude generator changed. No problems or complication. Today, She went to cardiologist and was nseen by a PA, and the St Jude tech that was in the OR. She was given a Merlin@home transmitter and was told to use this at night to moniter ther pacer. She never had to do this before. Does anyone have any experience or information about the device? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Merlin and it stays plugged in on the night stand near my bed. It does a check every night and if there are problems, sends a report to my physician for appropriate action. It does an extensive report every 90 days and that is usually right before my follow up appointments with the EP are made so the data is available. I don't take mine with me when I travel. That is a decision that depends on your assessment of your need/risks. People in the PM Club are about evenly divided on that issue. You might want to run this question by your wife's doctor during a follow up visit. You will find a lot of comments on the Merlin if you use the search tool at the top of the PM Club page. This, in my opinion, is a real advancement in care.

You prefer rechargeable batteries.
