After 8 years my PM site is hurting

Has anyone had pain in their PM site after having it for years? I had mine put in in 2008 and now it hurts if anything lays against it or if I lay on my left side. If I touch it, it feels like a bad bruise would feel. When I lay on my side I get a strong pain, not just the discomfort I got way back when I first got it. I am in the last year of batter life, they predict. I wonder if that could have something to do with it? I've been getting random pains in my PM/heart area when sitting up, especially at night watching t.v.

Thoughts?

The battery life has no impact whatsoever on how it feels.

Have you done something new to aggravate it? Mine was suddenly sore when we first got the Wii, took me a while to put two and two together. It was also sore for a while when I joined a new, harder gym.

Do you have any other symptoms like a low grade fever? Just to be on the safe side, you might want to get some blood cultures done. It's rare, but not unheard of, for infection in the body (caused by something else) to latch on to the metal and cause a pocket infection. This is rare but if that is by chance what's going on, it's important to treat it quickly and aggressively.

I agree with Sparrow, start with the GP, not your cardio. Cardio's know hearts, they tend to blow off anything else when they know your heart is beating like it should.
