Check up, Check in

I was at the Cardiologist office today and it was a hoot! ha ha. At first the techs could not find a blood pressure on either arm. Said the cuff was too big for my "little" arm. ha ha! I weigh about 140. 5' 3", I don't think I have a skinny arm. he he.

Anyway they did confirm that I do have blood pumping through me veins. The St. Jude rep comes in and performs his little test. Yes, he says, your battery has about 6 months left. Wow I stated. Last time you said it was 6 months and that was 3 months ago. I must be conserving energy like mad. That was great news. So all kidding aside it seems as if I really do have 6 months left before a battery/unit change over. We are eyeing the new St. Jude "Accent" wireless pacemaker for me next time. The latest and greatest. The rep wanted to know how I knew about it? he he... Heartbeat International fundraiser seminar. Worth it in every way!

Now the doc comes in goes over the settings explains a few things. I add my comments and he gave me a look like "how do you even know to ask about that?" I asked about PVC's and how my heart seems to be holding them back and them when I relax they "pop" through and I feel them. He was surprised that I put that all together. He then said I was right, my heart is like storing the "energy" that it needs to release. He explained it better, but I was right! yippee!

So next he says to me, lets see you back next year. uhmmm 2010 well ok, when? He says 12 months from today. Uhmmm maybe we could see me before the battery goes dead, I asked? ha ha.... lol I said to this brilliant cardiologist, You are kidding about 12 months aren't you? He looked at me Like I had lost my mind, he opened his mouth to speak in a harsh way (I could tell) and then he hesitated, uh,mmmmm well, Susie maybe we could fit you in the schedule in 3 months. I said, "That's better, before my pacer dies!" ah ha ah a lol. I started to laugh and he could not stand it anymore and he began to laugh enjoying one of those big belly laughs. Tears and all!

It was the best time ever in the cardiologist office! Everyone could hear us and they came in to see what was so funny. Apparently the dr. had a very rough morning at the hosp. and he had not been in the best of moods. That sure changed when he met up with me.

Come back in 12 months... LOL=) Now that was funny! I'm still laughing about it.

You see, I believe that a good patient pays attention when the doctor misses something important like an END OF LIFE date.

Moral of the story/// listen and pay attention when in the doctors office, you might need to replay information for them. They are people after all and there's not one of us perfect in this world.

Happy thanksgiving to all,

So glad all is well and that "you" have things under control !!! For sure we are all people B-U-T ..... guess what I worry about is all the people who do not belong to Pacemaker Club, who do not take an interest in learning about their health issue, and leave it all up to the Dr. Scary thought. Again - so glad things went well and particularly that there was some leveity!! The world needs more humor !! :-)))))

forgot something....

The Doctor thinks that i am suffering from STRESS! Tells me to cut back on my activities and add more WALKING! outdoors. He thinks the dizziness is from STRESS. uhmmmmm maybe I need another vacation. After the holidays I think I will go out to California for a few weeks. Eureka here I come. Hang out with my parents and back before the 3 month cardio checkup. Wouldn't want to miss that after all the laughter!

Blessing to you all this Thanksgiving, American, Canadian, the World over.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
