Midodrine...

Hello, everyone! I haven't posted in a few weeks, but am having some troubling issues. I wonder if there are any others on Midodrine that can share any experiences they have had. I have been going along for five weeks post op taking Midodrine 2.5mg three times daily. I have felt better than ever, then all of a sudden, my blood pressure was 162/122 today at work. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and wondered if anyone found that Midodrine was boosting their BP way too high. My cardiologist suggested that I get my BP checked before taking my doses for the next two days and then let her know what my numbers are looking like.

Try going to the above website to check on drug interaction. I found that regular aspirin (yet not the baby one) had the same effect with my blood pressure interacting with Coreg Cr. As a matter of fact, there are over 2000 drugs that interact with it so I do have to be very careful. Biggest problem is that I have severe osteoporosis and can not take Boniva or Fosamax any longer because of dental problems and even the calcium citrate interacts with the Coreg.... looking for a solution to that one! Oh well. aldeer

My experience/midodrine

I am currently taking midodrine 5mg daily every morning and have been helping with my usual dizziness whenever I get ventricular arrhythmia/or ectopics in bigeminy. My EP suggested that if I feel my BP is not high enough if dizziness too profound, can take an extra tablet. However, best to be taken before 6pm cos there's danger that the BP will go too high during sleep. That can be sinister. You probably want to ask your Dr if it can be reduced to twice a day and see how the outcome is. The evening one may be less needed before you retire. All the best. bunnykin

I take Midodrine for Orthostatic Hypertension...I typically have drops in my blood pressure with change in position such as getting up out of bed in the morning.

I have not taken my Midodrine doses now for two days, and my blood pressure has still been fairly high.

I have been instructed to call the doctor on Friday to let her know all the details of how my blood pressure readings have been. Not looking good, and not quite sure what the course of treatment will be. I will update you all tomorrow!

Whoops...

What are you taking the Midodrine for?

Your dosage is pretty low but it does take a little experimenting to get the correct dose.

I take 10 mg 4 times a day for syncope. I do recall my cardiologist telling me that Midodrine can build in the system of some people.

Might I suggest taking it twice a day and seeing how that goes? (Check with your doc first)

You may just fall into the “extra sensitive” category. But the drug is supposed to raise your pressure so it’s doing its job – just a little too well for you.
