Hey there,
so i havnt had any check up yet since my op which is now 7 weeks ago. Im due to see my cardiologist and pacemaker technician on 15 & 16 of this month.
can i try a run before i see them? Im a previous marthon runner. I did Chicago in Oct 22 & Dublin same month. I got pacemaker end of june.
On a seperare note im a side sleep & still cant sleep on either side as its sore & i feel the 'weight' of device, does this pass? My wond is healing well but im at stage where its stinging and itchy. Im sure this all passes?
im desprate & nervous to get back running at same time but i kinda want to try before i see cariologist incase ive any issues with it...looking for advise on when i can start back. Ive pilef on pounds too so not helping!!
TIA

Thanks for that info.
i actually didnt realise how long the ligaments & breast tissue would take to heal & this all makes sense now coz my left boob has been sore for a while...it kinda felt swollen, if fat can ever be 'swollen' :)
my device definitely protrudes slightly from my skin so i think in general i will need some support for this area, defo the breasts. My sport bra is high impact & come up high on my chest but i think it will actually rub on my newly healing scar & the device underneath.
Ill have to find something so that'll be trial & error no dount!
ill start slow anyways...and build up...id say my head is further along the my body will be!
thanks for the words of wisdom
Run again

I was back to running 2 weeks post op. Felt great. Definitely a good bra. I would put a bandaid over it to shield it from the sun. The straps never bothered my scar if I wore wide strapped sports bras. I just made sure to sit it on gently. My doctor was so excited for me to run, he said go for it at one week. But I was too sore to bounce around like that. Just go out slow and maybe walk some. But call and ask when you can run. Each doc is different and mine didn't have the same restrictions as most.

Your cardiologist should have given you instructions but my guess is that at this point you run as much as you're up to. Start slow and make sure you don't injure yourself. If it hurts, stop immediately. It's only a week and a half until your appointment with your cardiologist. I'd start out running but just a very short distance. You don't give us a lot of information so it's not clear if you're going to need rate response. If so, it'll probably take a significant number of adjustments to get dialed in for reasonable performance. You might want to start now (if it's turned on) so you have somewhere to go when you see the device tech. If you don't have any sort of chronotropic incompetence, things will go a lot smoother. There are far fewer adjustments needed.
I slept in a recliner for some time. I probably didn't need to but I sleep on my stomach with the left shoulder burried in the mattress. I didn't want to take a chance of rolling over on that side and not realizing it. I did that once, when I had my CABG. When I woke up, I didn't think I'd ever move again.
