Pacemaker Battery Life

I had a pacemaker fitted in July 2018 and I was told that it’s expected life span was about 9 years.  I have been for a check up today and have been told that, due it’s extra usage, the expected life style had reduced to 3 years.  The cardiologist I saw said that he was referring my case to my consultant.

Can anyone tell about the likely cause please?

Generator replaced / or can as they call it

Thursday had my pace maker replaced , battery  low, 1 month left, had initial pace maker for 9.5 years.

i live in Carmel Ca., however I’ve kept my cardiologist in Scottsdale Az who I totally implanted my device in 2009.

They have cared for me the entire time, every 6 months I’d visit as well as use the home monitor. My insurance carrier, blue cross/ covered California day they will not cover the procedure since I was treated out of state.  Has anyone had a si...

Can anyone else feel their pacemaker wires under their skin

Helloooo! Question, I can feel one of my pacemaker leads under where my scar is and can feel it travel up towards my clavicle. It’s very easy to feel, it even rubs on clothing. This is my second pacemaker and it has been this way for 2 years now. Was just wondering if anyone else has this as it was not like this with my first pacemaker.

Complications

Has any one ever had the feeling like your pacemaker itself is viberating?  almost like the things they give you at pizza places to tell you your order is up viberating!! I've had mine since 2015 and all the sudden it feels like it's viberating all the time, It drives me nuts. If so what were your Dr,'s findings? Return to Pilates

Had pacemaker installed March 18th 2019. I would like to get back to pilates when I have recovered from the implant, but I am very concerned about dislodging the wires as there is a lot of lengthening and stretching with this activity. Has anyone returned to this activity after implant.

Leads

I got my PM 5 weeks ago. At 4 weeks I was released to raise my arm above my shoulder.  But i have ire dit so much in fear of pulling a lead. So my shoulder is stiff, not frozen shoulder but stiff and still sore if I sue my chest muscles. Sp thsi morning I woke up stretching mg right arm above my head, like reaching for the stars.  Is this concerning. Hiw hard is it to dislodge leads?? Just found this site and have readseveral of the postings hoping to find answers to my questions - but not yet.

When I had my pacemaker implanted 4 years ago, I was told the battery life was about 15 years.  In the last 4 years that has dropped to 3 years remaining.  With so much used up in 4 years, my concern is how fast the remaining time will actually last and how I will know when it's winding down in time to do something about it rather quickly.  Anyone have any i...

Anyone experience Problems with lead displacement

I had intermittent bradycardia into the 20’s with dizziness went to the ER 3/18.  Had a PM placed 3/20.  Came home and still had the dizzy spells.  Went for my wound check, they interrogated PM, sent me for a chest X-ray and BOTH leads had moved.  Had a lead revision 3/27 and felt great- for 3 days, now having the dizzy spells again and feel the same  as last week.  Has anyone had multiple lead movements?  Do I return to same EP doc...

Pacemaker "overheating" reduced pacing rate

I had my pacemaker implant on 01.30.19 I have had a positive recovery until this weekend; following a brisk walk the pacemaker and area around the PM were warm to the touch and the heat only subsided later that day. Saw the pacemaker team today and they felt the unit was overworking as my natural heart rhythm has improved. Thay reduced my right atrium pace from 100% (70bpm) to a lower amount (they didn't say how much!) I'm now feeling quite lethargic and more breathless. Has anyo...

Voltage on the leads

I had an AV block resulting in a low hearth rythme of 37 during sleep. I now have my two lead Medtronic pm for one month and everything seems fine. Today during my control visit however the doctor told me that the upper lead uses 1 volt and the lower lead is using 3 volts and that they prefer to move this lead into another place in my heart to get to a lower voltage. Lead Revision

So, I had my second pacemaker implant on January 7th of this year for my type two av heartblock and all has been well until now. I went to my second follow up appointment today and now my lower ventricle lead is out of place. Im only 17 and I had my first device implanted in 2009. When I went in for my surgery in January there was also an attempted lead extraction but it was not feasible. Capped off leads

Does anyone else have old leads that were capped off and left in place?

ive had a pacemaker since I was 12. So I now have capped off leads on my left side (pacer is now on my right side) that are 21 years old and have been giving me some concerns.

seems there’s not much research on how long leads are safe to stay inside your body...?

Lead Displacement

Hi my mum recently had a pacemaker op in Jan , she went in for her 6week check up and the dr could'nt find a rhythm. additional leads vs extraction

The subject of adding an additional lead versus extraction of the current one before inserting the new one has come up from time to time. About pacemaker implantation

I have been implanted with DDDR pacemaker in Jan 2019. During inplantation one lead can not be fixed due to change in heart structure during heart operation which was done in 19th July 2018. Dr. said that actually i was requiring single lead pacemaker maker and where it requires is properly fixed.

Now my question is whether DDDR with single lead can work properly.
