I had my first implant at the age of 18 in 1994. I am on device number 5 now. That has to be some kind of record.
New tachy-brady diagnosis
Hi all,
I don't really know what to say, I feel a bit overwhelemed. I was just diagnosed with tach-brady syndrome which was a shock. I've had heart palpatations since my mid teens, I'm 37 now. I just mentioned the palpitations to my pcp because I've lost a lot of weight and have been feeling anxious lately. The weight loss was intentional, I was 460 pounds now to 260. I wore an event monitor for a month but the cardiologists office called after a week t...

Hi all-
I'm 28, and I am 2 1/2 months out from getting my dual chamber pacemaker. It was a very traumatic experience- I discovered I have sick sinus syndrome by flatlining in my home in front of my husband (poor man, he still checks that I'm breathing at night). I was gone for 29 seconds. I received my pacemaker five days later. The five days in between what happened and my surgery were the most paralyzing days of my life. I was convinced it was going to happen again a...
100 % Pacemaker Dependent
In early Apirl I had my pacemaker installed. Then 2 months later I found out that I was going to have to have an AV Node Ablation, after which my pacemaker would then be doing 100% of my heart's work. I had the procedure 2 1/2 weeks ago and am now 100% dependent.
I am trying to find information on what happens when my pacemaker quits (battery dies). Will there be enough time to get a new battery/pacemaker or when this battery dies is that the end of me? This probab...

Hello Folks, I am new to this sight and grateful to have found it. I'm 100% paced and have had an AV ablaton as well. I am 100% dependent on the pacemaker. The pacemaker was put in on the 20th of June. Since then I still feel the palpitations (from persistent afib) but not as bad. An SA node ablation was not possible due to my mitral valve repair in 2003. I understood from my heart surgeon that the afib would still be there, but hopefully my palpitation would be less. My PM is set at 90-1...

Hey Folks! I’m six days post PM insertion. I think recovery is going well. I’m still tired and have a new symptom of bpm that shoots up to the 130s when I stand up. My EP has increased my dosage of Flecainide so hopefully that will get better. However, my biggest road block throughout my heart journey has been my terrible anxiety. I have been on meds for 14 years for my anxiety. The crippling anxiety attacks I have been having since my ablation in December 2018, are nex...

Just wondering is it normal to feel groggy after having what I refer to as a tune up. I am new to the forum. Received my PM in April 2018. First installed I was told it would kickin like a hybrid car would when gas was needed. After more tuneups it turns out I am totally dependent on my PM. I had another tune up a few weeks ago. There was a setting turned off, which is now turned on to have the PM keep up with me when I exhurted myself, which was possibly why I w...

LV dysfunction??
Hi all. Further to my previouse post about being told i have heart block and require a PM, I have had my letter from the cosultant, (the one he sends to my GP) and at the end it states that he is sure I will need a PM but he is concerned that looking at my ECG suggests that i may have LV dsyfunction also.
I had googled this and now I am scared. Does anyone have this and what does it really mean . Im reading that its not fixable and will get worse. Is this the case? And if t...
Infant with pacemaker
Long post ahead...
While at my routine 20week ultrasound OB appt, we were blindsided with the news that our baby Anna was very sick and in critical condition. My OB immediately called the high risk OB and got us in within a couple of hours for further diagnostics and testing. After that appt, he immediately called the director of Pediatric Cardiology on his cell phone to get more ultrasounds and tests since she was in such a dire status. They concluded she has a complete heart block and...
PM at 36
Hi all. I'm new here. Was told yesterday that I had a blocked left bundle and a right branch that is functioning at a very bad level. I will have to have a pace maker fitted but as I'm only 36 they want to run more tests. Not sure why.
Can anyone tell.me what happens next? How will I feel after? Will it affect my life style? Will I live as long? My youngest is only 2! I wanted more kids. Can I still do this?
Thanks. Basically have no idea what's happening so any...
A few beers?
I’m on about my sixth week with PM, using only atrial lead. Felling better just about everyday. Had PM installed due to bradycardia and Afib. Now set to 70 bpm and on Flecainide and beta blocker. I’m. 58 years old and in good physical shape (for the most part).
I know alcohol is a no no for Afib, but I still imbibe 2-3 beers nearly daily. In fact, when I’m feeling crappy, a beer or two generally relaxes me and makes my stomach feel better. Usually, my chest p...
Day 3....
Feeling ok but not sure what I should feel or not feel. Bpm not dropping like before so not so tired or dizzy
hard to sleep more than a few hours feel awake after 3-4 hours. I am sure that will get better in time.
Cant wait for 1 week suture check on Wednesday. I think it is the unknown that is creating anxiety. I am ready to go back to work and routine
Sorry frustration sets in from time to time
Happy Saturday
Police officer with pacemaker
Hi,
49 year old police officer, just got a pacemaker. I’m more concerned about training than working the road. Shooting a sluggger on that side, defensive tactics. Anyone find difficulties with training activities?
Appointment with fetal specialist and pediatric cardiologist
I'm 25 weeks pregnant baby girl has a complete heart block I just had my first appointment they said all they can do is monitor for hydrops..the specialist already seen slight fluid in babys heart but nothing significant heart structure is good, and they won't even consider c-section before 36 weeks. Just looking for anyone having gone through this and baby making it everything I read on hydrops points to fetal demise they wont even consider steroids and she said it's pointing to...
32 and wired!
I’m 32 and 5 weeks ago after having my baby they found that a had ventricular tachycardia by coincidence. I had to have a c section so I was hooked up to a heart monitor and as I was laying with my baby in the hospital bed talking to the nurse machines started going off and the nurse kept asking if I were okay and or going to pass out? No, I’m fine was my response but the machines kept going off. Finally she called the on call doctor and she kept saying that she’s in vtach a...

last ablation to be 100% pacemaker dependaent/ failed.
Had first ablation in june 2017. Pacemaker Oct. 2018 and final ablation to make me 100% pacemakerdependent the end of march 2019.
Haven't been right since I left hosp. Cardiologist told me yesterday that all my symptoms, and hospitalizations recently which the Dr;s thought was that I had a slight heart attack, proved false was the following fact:
In reality, this last ablation has failed and I need it redone. have anyone of you been in th...
