Hello everyone,
I have some questions about my ventricular lead wire impedance. I was in for a routine pm check and was told that my ventricular wire impedance level was below 200, indicating a problem. I saw the EP doctor and he says it needs to be replaced. I have had several episodes of being lightheaded but was blowing them off to sinus problems, but the most annoying thing is a cough. I have had two pm replacements including an atrial lead replacement and every time something is sc...

The charge in one of my leads has changed from 0.8 to 1.4 in 9 months. My doctor could not tell me the reason for it. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

This is my 3rd ICD (for VTach) since 2002 and have the same leads. Last week during an interagation, I was told that I was getting interference on one of my leads and that the connection might be loose. I see Card tomorrow to discuss - but will def want it repaired. Anyone else experience this? If so, what was done??
I was also told that I have had several SVT's in last few months. I normally only get PVC's - haven't been feeling up to par as well - could this be due to the loose...

One July 22, 2011 I had a PM implanted. Since then I have been on and off this forum but reading some of the posts regarding losing leads I have become somewhat paranoid.
I am 16 days post PM implant and feeling sort of OK considering I am in Afib. HR resting is steady 60. Had a checkup 6 days ago and all OK (except for Afib).
But...How would one know if a lead is lost?
Are there symptoms?
I don't have another checkup for 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance for any info

I was at my EP for my check and he told me that my pacemaker has been on backup since June. We thought I would have at least 6 months left, but since I have a total heart block and am pacer dependent I have to have it replaced immediately. I had been feeling kind of run down and had SOB, but I blamed the heat. I am pretty active, a runner and swim daily, and have a houseful of kids and dogs, so I've had to push myself to get everything done. Now my family feels very guilty and wants me to just r...

Hi
I had dual lead PM inserted August 2010. Day after insertion the V lead displaced so they had to go in again.
As months proegressed I could see leads and PM starting to pop through the skin.
Had been feeling ok but when I went for a check another surgeon said the pm need 'reburial' as it will come through the skin.
On 13th July (third op) to sink the pm in deeper and hide the wires.
Released from hospital same day but no chest xray taken.
Started feeling ill, fa...

Day ten after implant of PM. Still feeling pretty good. Some slight pain in incision area and still black and blue under my left arm and shoulder. Although in no significant pain I find it hard to sleep perhaps because I don't want to lie on my left side.
I do have a real concern about the possibility of dislodging a lead. I catch myself from time to time using my left hand to open doors turn knobs and reach for things. I have not lifted anything heavy with it. On occasion I have also raise...

Hi, I had my pacemaker implanted on 7/14/11 and at my checkup 7/19 I learned that the leads came out and had to have new ones attached the following day. I think I was careless or slept wrong. I have been trying very carefully not to use the left arm for lifting over my shoulder but today I reached/stretched way over my head and closed the hatchback of my car. I don't go for another checkup until the end of the month. Do you think it's okay or should I be worried? It's been 12 days. Thank you.

I'm 23, and have had a pacemaker since I was 12. I have had 4 boxes: 1 = Single, 2= dual, = 3, multisite 4= multisite replacement due to broken lead.
I have never had a wire removed, and just kept adding to them. This means that theres at least one lead thats been there a decade some soon to be the same. Im worried they'll never come out. With all the vegetation Are they stuck forever, like a ship wreck which has turned into coral reef?
Baring in mind im 23, i will prob ne...

Hello all -
I just had my 6 week pacemaker check up, which unfortunately showed a very high voltage requirement (5 volts) for the ventrical lead. The cardiologist said to have it checked again in one month, and if it this isn’t improved substantially, the lead will need to be re-attached.
So questions:
1. What is the likelihood of a substantial lowering of the voltage improvement after already being in place for 6 weeks?
2. What...

Is anyone able to feel (with their fingers) the wires on their PM? My PM is implanted underneath my collar bone and since I have such thin skin, I can feel the pacemaker and part of a wire. Is this normal?

in Elective Replacement Time. Finally called Guidant/Boston Scientific today to get answer as only thing I could find on Google that was any where near helping was all our posts on our site. Nice gal @ Guidant said for my situatiuon (100% paced) & my PM that usually last 90 days but not to wait until day 89. Hah! Gee, doesn't know how I am so I assured her I wouldn't. Just for giggles, I asked how long does one have when it goes into End of Life. She says (& probably with a straight face) that...

Went in for my monthly check up & lo & behold I reached ERT July 4th. Kind of thought I had as been little SOB this week. My 8+year old PM has shut down the Rate Response so I get 70 b/min no matter what I do. Hah! My EP is on vacation & comes back Monday July 11th. Of course he is booked solid but I expect I will get a replacement in next week or so as am 100% dependent as have had an AV node ablation in 2000. This will be PM #3. During #2 needed to have my single lead pulled out/replaced & as...

Hello Everyone,
I am 30 years old and got a dual chamber pacemaker 7 yrs ago due to failed tilt table test. Since then, I have used the pacemaker less than 1% of the time and have realized I suffer from very low blood pressure (something which the pacemaker doesn't help). The batteries have run out and my doctors agree that I no longer need the pacemaker. I am now left with the decision of what to do:(. One surgeon recommends I take out the pacemaker and leads but another surgeon...

I'm not sure which category to post this in, but this one seems the most appropriate.
I am looking for people who have been treated for vasovagal or neurcardiogenic syncope with the Biotronik Evia Pacemaker.
I received my first pacemaker almost 10 years ago for this problem, coupled with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. The PM was replaced at the end of 2009, so my new medtronic adapta is still completely functional. However, I recently started passing out ag...

Hi everybody, I would like to know if there is someone who has or had the pacemaker St. Jude Medical - Microny? It is still the smallest pacemaker in the world. I have this one for 3 years now and it is pacing the ventricles in 100 % of time, I have complete AV block. Because it is so small, it has a small battery as well and I would like to know, how long time it can pace the ventricles on 100 % before changing it because of the battery. With the best regards to all of you ;-).

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
