Very basic question

OK so I'm confused.
I'm getting a pacemaker in a few months time for a compete congenital heart block (I'm 34 and asymptomatic so it as a precaution rather than an immediate necessity).
My health insurance is up for renewal and I was asking my insurance company where and what I was covered for...and I couldnt answer any of the questions they asked. all of you afraid kids out there that is goiong to have surgery you will be just fine i am 11 yrs. old and i have a PM also i got my first PM when I was about 3yrs. old i just got a new PM in november of 2006 and looking at me now doing everything a normal kid would do!!!!!!!!!

Shortness of Breath

I had pretty severe shortness of breath which was my primary symptom that led to the PM. I have been fine for a year with my PM. Over the last two weeks or so I have had bouts with shortness of breath again and they are getting more frequent. My PM was just checked on Thursday and they say it is fine. Anyone ever go through this? I have an appointment with my PCP on Friday.

pacemaker location problem

hi all,
this is my first post here,as i felt that this was the place where i could share my concerns.my 2 yr old niece was born with a slow heartbeat.after doctor's advice ,a pacemaker was implanted on her leftside on 07/13/07.after a month, today the doctor tells them that her tissues are not growing,so they have to relocate it somewhere near the stomach in a couple of days.she is in India,and is being treated at the best hospital from a doctor who studied here in the U.S.we are all ver...

strage feelings

hi everyone already put this essay on but in wrong place. Its been 4wks now since l had PM put in,had check up with doc tor, had check up with clinic,all seems fine, so why is it that l still get the strange feeling l used to get before l would blackout? Laying on Leftside

Hey there, I am new to the group. I got my pacemaker a couple of years ago. I recently starting having weird heart beats when I lay on my left side. It is inconvient because my baby monitor (video) is on that side. So I have to lay flat and turn my head. Has any one experienced this?

Where I am going next

HI everyone,

I am still in hot pursuit of the right care, but I believe I may have found a place that is willing to step out and take a chance to help me! In the next few weeks I should have an appointment to another medical center in another state.

So far with talking with these folks, they seem like they really want to try to help me. I am looking forward to it, and as the spiritual person I am, I think there may be some divine intervention going on here too.

Its been 4days since my PM was put in and i feel really spacy all most like I am on L.S.D or stoned. I feel really wierd about my perception of my suroundings, its like I am out of body. Has anyone felt like this do to the surgery or is my head just playing games with me.

Hi Folks

Got back from the mainland last Friday. We had a good trip and it was great to see Kay (Rewired Aussie) Unfortunately I was still suffering the effects of flu and my energy level was so low we only saw each other for about an hour. All is not lost I am spending a week in Melbourne on my way back from New Zealand in November and have set aside the five days so we can have some contact again. Elliptical?

Hi- do you guys know how long we need to wait until doing the elliptical trainer (the one without using your arms)? I am walking and riding the bike and it feels great! I am anxious to do the elliptical. Also, any hints for sweating to keep the area dry? I know that I need to keep it covered in the shower for a month but does that also apply to sweating? Any ideas?

Admin. and others...I was just wondering if those of you who have recently used the private message feature on this forum have had this problem: I go to enter the person's name to send a message to and it says in red next to it "invalid user" when you KNOW that isn't right (re: that person exists on the site and is an active member)? VasoVagal Syncope

Tilt Test was positive, all Heart Test Normal, wearing belt for a month, then may have implant machine for a month. Cardiologist not so sure syncope since it only happened after the medicine was introduced. I have passed out this year over 12 times. Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Drop and then I hit the floor with my face no warning.. Am I a candidate for pacemaker if Belt test and machine in test so nothing.

Backpacking

Hello I love to go backpacking but after a recent trip to isle royal national park I'm afraid I'll never be able to do more than day hikes. I could never get my pack in a comfortable position that didn't irritate my pacemaker site so I ended up wearing the shoulder straps down around by upper arms which was brutal. Has anyone out there found a backpack that's design is pacemaker friendly? I've looked at lumbar packs but haven't found any with a capacity for more than just a day hike.

New member- a few questions

Hi,
I just joined this forum, thanks already for the helpful information.

I'm female and in my 30's and I got a pacemaker 3 weeks ago. I had a few cardiac arrests and went to the ER, so there wasn't much planning involved. The surgery was fine, but I ended up with a significant pnuemothorax, which bought me a few extra hospital days and a really fun chest tube. There's no real reason for the CA, except bradycardia and a funky sinus node.
