Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts posted in response to my earlier message . . . It is time.
PM installed as planned yesterday morning for sinus node dysorder. I have the expected soreness in left shoulder pocket area. My EP described the procedure as a textbook case. I had some nausea when standing within first few hours afterwards but 8 hours later I was able to walk around normally. I took only 2 pain pills yesterday and now I am dealing with it using Tylenol. My h...
back from the doc
Saw the rep from Medtronic and yes we have the infamous 6949 lead. We found ALOT today.
First John has Cardio Myopathy due to the 2 arteries 90% blocked, then the heart attack. They had hoped that his heart would improve with a medicine regemin but it didnt. His heart is quite compromised due to the damage done because of the heart attack. He is paced @ 100% with a Bi-V because of this.
He passed out last night -- first time in three months. But when the EP interrogated and we...

If you cross your eyes while undergoing an MRI procedure of your head, do your eyes look cross-eyed on the scan?

this Sunay I am leaving town for the week. Going to a national bowling tournament in Las Vegas. Do we have any members from the great city of Vegas. If so it would be fun to meet you. With some inside info I could maybe get to see a side of Vegas I have never seen. I think it would also be nice to meet with others who also have pacers or ICD's that have an interest in this club. I will be there from Monday night thru Friday night. If you are interested in meeting up or going out to a dinner some...

Hi Everyone, my name is Jen and I'm from Scotland. I got my pacemaker just there on Friday 09th November because I've had neurocardiogenic syncope for at least 8 years and none of the meds have worked. I had the pacemaker checked on Monday and the technician said that it's been activated 15 times in 3 days which is a lot apparently. My problem just now is that although the scar hurts sometimes my left shoulder is absolute agony all the time. The pacemaker is right under the collar bone and no ma...

In my state the "Rural Electrification" systems are really kicking into high gear. I pass three of those transmission farms everytime I travel a certain highway. These monsters are half as big as a football field and contian huge towers, massive coild and lines all enclosed in razor wire and chain link. My question is of course does such a contraption have an effect on my PM? I've tried other routes but there is at least one of these things on every road. It's probably just my imagination but...

Hello fellow PM folks!
I'm in my 4th day of recovery to revise PM. Surgery went very well on Nov. 8th! I no longer have a wire protruding out, nor skin paper thin! The surgeon relocated underneath my muscle just below my collar bone and you can't even tell I have a PM, with the exception of the incision! It's night and day! I am very excited and thankful! They used Durabond (like superglue) to close the incision and tell me that it'll take about 5-10 days to wear off. Having it unde...

Hi All,
Having read about the new (still illegal here) cell phone jammers that cut off cell phone connections (not sure how works tho) does anyone know if these things will affect our PM/ICD's? Plan to ask my EP @ next check-up but that isn't until Jan. 2008.
Had a not great experience today. As I am 100% PM dependent I had to go thru a security to get into a work site I have not visited before. Not the airport. So I told the security guy that I couldn't go thru the walk-...

All of the encouraging stories here finally made me throw in the towel after 5 yrs of problems with exercise (and after) with a slow rate. I'm getting a PM early next year. I am looking forward to running again. It's been years since I've been able to run or even jog slowly for more than a few hundred yards.
I have a couple of questions. (1)I finally found out that my complication is that in addition to a slowing sinus node when I start to exercise, I also have a junctional rhythm tha...

Hi Pacers
Back home again in Tasmania after five weeks away in New Zealand touring the south and north Island. It was great to pack a bag and just relax. No kids, no gripes, no worries.
Our special time on the way back was spent in Melbourne with Rewired Aussie (Kay) Each time we saw each other we just laughed and laughed. Kay is a sure tonic for blowing away the blues. As you all know I suffer from depression. One hit with Kay and it tops up the dopamine in my brai...

I read the postings from and reg. Pooh's message. I am glad I didn't get yelled at that way the first time I posted a message, I would never have dared to post another. I actually think it is very interesting to know what people did or do for a living. Some of us had to have a pm very sudden, without having prior heart and health problems and to me it is interesting to know if stress, equipment etc at work could have caused some of the reason(s) why we suddenly needed a pm.
Also, just as th...

Hey Folks,
So that no one thinks I have died, I'll be off to new adventures for a few weeks. Time to go visit the kids, relatives and some friends. I'm starting early because I need to check out who will have the best menu for Thanksgiving. I'll have access to the internet at a few of our stops so maybe I can check from time to time.
Hope all of you have a happy Thanksgiving.
Smitty.

I am new to the club and am facing insertion of a pm and av node ablation tomorrow and wednesday. I am extremely frightened of the unknown and find this web site to be very supportive. i have had many ablations for my chronic arrhythmia and now at 58 yrs. old am facing the rest of my life with being battery-operated. Is this a normal response to grieve my old heart and fear my new mechanism? I am active, walk, golf and work full time. i am concerned about a significant life style change.

On the grand scheme of things, this is not a huge problem and since I'm new to the group, this may well be something that "everybody" already knows the answer to.
When in Chat, is there any way to reduce the chat window, but keep it active, or even to move it to the side so that I can be looking at forums etc and still have the Chat window active?
tks

Since mid-morning yesterday 11/11/07 I have been experiencing annoying continuous PVCs. I called my cardiologist's office and spoke to the nurse and she informed me that during my last pacer check, it was noted that I have several PVCs and that it was normal. Normal?
Lastly the nurse told me that if I felt the need to see the doctor, I could make an appointment and perhaps have some meds changed. Not only are these PVCs annoying, they un-nerve me. I have been a pacer recipient s...

I have Biotronik pacer and have recently started having trouble with increased rates when riding in my bumpy diesel truck. My doc has me using a magnet over the pacer when I ride in the truck or on my lawnmower. Pulse rate goes from 55 bpm to 130bpm. anyone else had this problem?

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
