I have had Heart arrhythmia for years but was never a problem.
Late in 2006 I thought I wa having a heat attack, sweatty, out
of beath and went to the emergency room an they told me my heart was racing to fast and put me on medication. The Arrhythmia Institute reccomended I try a new medication first
and if that did not work they would schedule the pacemaker. To
make a lomng story short the scheduled the Pacemaker which
bcame infected at the site After remove...

Relocation of PM

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted.

I recently had my PM relocated from the left to the right side. The original wires could not be moved so the surgeon had to put in connection wires. Those now cross my chest. This was done to relocate the PM out of the way of possible radiation for breast cancer. I also had reconstruction surgery at the same time.

Lately I have been having a strange feeling in the area of the connections. It feels someone like a wire poking me. Has...

Rapid Heart-Rate

I have been experiancing a rather rapid heart-rate lately. My normal rate is usually anywhere between 60 and 75 bpm - anything over about 95 bpm makes me uncomfortable. I have been having bouts of a rapid heart-rate that seem to last from several minutes to an hour where my heart rate is over 120 bmp. I know that 120 bpm isn't all that fast, but for me it is extremely unusual.
When these rapid heart-rates occur, it causes chest pain and pressure, shortness of breath, and dizziness. It cause...

fractured or broken Leads

My Doctor just recently told me that I may have a broken lead, which causes a small palpitation (lose capture) when I make some sudden movements. He's going to check me out next week. Has Anyone had this problem? When leads fracture, at what section do they fracture? I hope it's not inside the heart. My HR is 30 bpm with out the pacemaker.

Thanks,
Pete

Problems with coping....

I haven't posted in awhile. I have been trying to deal with my anxiety and depression. My PM was put in June 12, 2007.
Shortly after the implant I began to drive again(felt so very strange); I use to drive everyday and before the implant I was homebound for three weeks.

Then, after I began to drive, it seemed like all the places that Mama and I went to before I became ill they didn't seem like the same places anymore since I was 'different'.

I began going back into th...

Still looking for answers.

I got my pacer 2 years ago while on a vacation. I was subsequently diagnosed with NCS or VVS both the same and Bradycardia. I have read many articles on NCS since that time to get an understanding. Most articles say that an attack of blackout or pass-out usually lasts about 10 minutes. Then you wake back up and are tired but otherwise OK. That it is not dangerous except for the falling down or driving. NOT GOOD. Now here is what happened to me. My Doctor an EP who is very good could not tell me...

Pacemaker, Toprol XL and Rythmol

I thought I'd post an update on my condition, which just seems to go from bad to worse. Got the Pacemaker on December 14th after passing out twice (once while driving) and still haven't been able to return to work because I feel so lousy. So, I have a Pacemaker to control the slow heartbeats, I'm on Toprol XL to control the fast heartbeats, and I just spent another 4 days this week in the ICU at the hospital and left with Rythmol to control all of the extra heartbeats that they found through the...

Sudden deep breath

I got my new PM in march 08, strange thing happened after that. Just after PM impalnt i started getting Sudden deep breath. It comes once in 1-2 hrs and does not cause any problem. My idea was that as HR was low before PM insertion, lungs were not accustomed to pull sufficient air which is required after increased HR (PM implantation). So that requirement is compensated by Sudden deep breath.

When i asked my cardiologist about the deep breath he smiled and said it is not because of P...

I wish I could pull it out!

I had been given to believe that I would feel absolutely normal within days of the Pacemaker insertion (end December 07).
Although it has diminished a lot over the last week, from the beginning I have had permanent pain just under and very slightly to the left of the centre of my breastbone, that is sharpish, but also like a "dry burn" . My upper chest, neck, lower jaw and teeth always feel tight or pressured and "engulfed", something like a sore throat, my left shoulder and arm ache, an...

there is just the listing on the side for the recall just takes you to a lawyer site it dont really say nothing
I think the poeple here in charge would know where to go for information
since the pumps are on recall now
since the wires are broken on 4 different models
and i don't know what else is on recall Becuase the news don't say to much

Very Dicouraged

Im 10 weeks out and was doing ok had some small problems I have a lump under my armpit which they told me was a hematoma and some shooting pains that go from under my arm down to the palm of my hand. But now yesterday I passed again. Has this happened to other people? I'm getting so discourged, I thought the PM would but an end to all the passing out. The only bright moment in this is I found out my son who has Autism knew how to dial 9-1-1 to get help for me. He happened to be home sick from sc...

pacing during "cool down"

Hi!
I'm 6months post-PM, and it's great that it's something I hardly even think about anymore. Due to diagnosis of "osteopenia" (thin bones), I got a really nice eliptical rider, and have been using it 4-5 times/week since the end of December. I worked up my speed slowly preferring to stay on it than try to go fast and hard and injure myself (or faint). Pretty soon I'm going to start increasing my time, but for now I do 15 minutes of work out and 5 minutes cool down.
My question is...

Tattoo

Hey everyone I was recently thinking that I would like to get a heart shaped tattoo around my pacemaker site. I am a little bothered by the scar and think that it might actually look pretty neat. I wouldn't have any ink coloring in the middle cause it would just ruin the tattoo when i have to have the battery changed so I was just wanted to see what you all though.

ultrasound, MRI, cat scans

I am scheduled for a renal ultrasound after the date I plan to have PM put in. I had kidney cancer 8 years ago. All clear for 8 years, but have check-up each year. Can I have ultrasound after PM?

Also seems I read no MRI's? How about cat scans?

Introduction

Hey Group,

Since I'm new to the club, I thought I would post a brief introduction.

I'm a 38 year old Dad of 3, and on the morning of Dec 30, my heart decided it was done doing it's job, and I went into cardiac arrest. God is good, and my wife got the EMT's to our house in a few minutes - about 10 shocks later, I was on my way to the hospital.

I spent 2 days in a coma, and thank God my cat scan came back clear - no brain damage. An MRI and angiogram showed that...

Discouragement!

This is not heart related at all. So I am going to say sorry ahead of time. I don't get on often as I use to but I read every post daily from my cell phone, I just can't seem to respond. I keep up with y'all though as much as I can. I see and feel in the words that are said at points that people need encouraged and strengthened. Life changes for each of you daily. I personally want to welcome all the new pacers to this site. I hope that on your journey that you can find peace and support from t...
