im sure this question has been asked before but can anyone tell me if there is a connection between the pacemaker and raised blood pressure? before the pacemaker my blood pressure lower reading(diastolic) was 80-85 but now it is 97 the top reaing is fine 120. im frustrated as to why the reading has altered.

Just a suggestion for a possible new catagory of postings for this site - "Reference Library". A couple of weeks back someone posted a Q&A session between a cardiologist and some students about Pacemakers. I also remember seeing another post of someone's surgeon's report of the procedure of implanting a PM. These things would invaluable to someone who's just gotten a PM (or will soon be getting one).

Hi Its me moaning minnie.
Still feeling tired. When does this get better am now in my eight week and thought I would have more energy.
Went home to england for a holiday and visited an English cardiologist to try and understand the ins and outs of pacemakers. He wants to see the test results from France to see if I really need the pacemaker. he feels that if it is only the slow beat at night then he would not have installed one! Which one do you believe French or E...

Hi
I am always asking questions! Getting on for five weeks after my dual chamber pacemaker was put it. The area is still a bit swollen but the bruising which was very bad has almost gone. I am concerned about the site - it is very raised and I can feel the hardness of the pacemaker protruding on one side much more than the other. This is visible as well.
The scar is raised and hard like a bone on top of the raised site of the pacemaker - it just doesn't feel right. Hav...

I am nine months post-op and still dealing with anxiety, not feeling well at times, etc. I now developed a new phobia and that is going to the cardiologist for follow-up for the PM I am seeing a counselor on a regular basis to try and help me get past this phobia which also includes taking some meds. Has anyone else gone through this?

I posted a few times about how I had my pacemaker removed following an infection last november. Well yesterday I got a new one implanted! I was on a waiting list but I rang the hospital and they gave me a cancellation so I got it done yesterday.
It went well and so far I feel really well. The new pacemaker is on my right hand side so I have a new scar, the old one was on the left. It's a St Jude Microny so it's tiny. I'm feeling much better already as I had been very tired due to the bradyc...

First i need to thank you all for existing; ever since my heart block (15 sec. in arrest) and emergency PM on Friday, 29th I've been recovering at home and your messages here have been a Gpdsend of informatin and support.
I've never had any heart problems so I am very new at this and puzzled by my new life as a bionic woman.
Physically I am pretty well (though still weak) but emotionally I am a wreck. When will I feel normal again?
It's been almost a week and I am still tired an...

I dont want to stir anything up again, but I feel the need to apologize for posting some of the comments I did about the joke. Going through a lot right now, which still is not an excuse, but just wanted to say I am sorry.

Hi, I went to the pacemaker clinic today for my yearly check-up, only to be told one of the lead has a problem and needs to be replaced. Has any one had leads replaced to tell me about it?
Thanks

What type of protective vests do you recommend for a leisurely bicycle rider? I have been known to go over the handle bars on an off trail mountain bike ride in the past but don't plan to do this again. Where can the vests be purchased?
Does anyone else get short of breath when they first start hiking? It takes about 45 minutes before I feel as if I can keep up. I don't take any heart meds.

Hi...
Since I've had my AV node ablation and biventricular pacemaker implanted last Oct, at times I seem to get spasms in my heart area and around my stomach. Everything will seem fine, then all of a sudden I feel my chest start pulsating for no particular reason. I mentioned it to my EP and he and a tech readjusted the settings on my PM and it seemed somewhat better. He said the other alternative would be to go in and try to relocate my leads. I try to get used to these spasms si...

in 2004 I had a catheter ablation and was implanted with a pacemaker. Until this summer I was not experiencing a fib symptoms, however now I am told by my DR that I am in full blown afib again and he is suggesting that I may need to get the ablation done again, and take digoxin. The only meds I am on are warafin, spironolact, and Norvasc 2.5. Has anyone with a pacemaker had success with meds also. Before my ablation and paemaker meds just made me feel like sitting on the couch and vegging,...

Hi Everyone,
I love this support group but, I was wondering if anyone has actually started one up in their area? I am thinking about doing it.If anyone would have any info they could share with me about this...that would be great.
I went into my MD yesterday because I have to have surgery next week & they wanted me to have a physical before I do this. e informed me that not only did my heart stop for 19 sec, but also 2 times for 30 sec. I find this rather disturbing that my...
