new mommy with a pace maker

I recently gave birth to my son Anthony. I went in to the hospital to deliver him but he left the hospital before I did, During my deliver my heart rate drop to 21 beats a minute. I almost die giving birth to him. I never thought that I was going to go through something so powerful. I just got out the hospital with a pace maker and I'm not sure what to do now. I'm getting depressed because I now realize that I would of die and I would of left my new baby and my two year old daughter without...

Bi Chamber Pacemaker

As per my earlier posting as I am suffering from extensive breathlessness which became noticable after my Dual Chamber PM was placed, I am now told that I am to have a new BI Chamber version to try and stop this. Has any one else had this problem? I do not have heart disease per say just AF... But I now feel like the walking dead most of the time.. Has anyone else had a problem with the way their own heart reacts to the artificial paceing beat....As it would appear this is what is causing my pr...

Sales donations to other countries, not the U.S.

I'm rather upset. I was checking out "two lives saved" in the latest news box on the right of the page.
It says how a Pacemaker Club donates a portion of sales to Heartbeat International, a non-profit charity who implants pacemakers and defibrillators free-of-charge in patients from developing countries. Developing Countries? What the heck is wrong with helping those who can't afford PM or defibrillators right here in our own country, United States of America.
Don't get me wrong, I'...

Test of Effort today

Hi

Thought I would let you know how my Test of Effort (riding a cycle whilst wearing an ECG) went.

Apparently, my cardiologist said that I was fine and in fact I had improved from my first check up. Good news. I asked about the ectopic or missed beats which I felt whilst exercising or sometimes just sitting. He said that everyone suffered with these, they were innocent and that I should ignore it.

I also asked what percentage was I making use of the PM. He s...

Talk about attitude!

Thanks to all those who sent welcomes and encouragement. Talk about terrific attitudes! It's a relief to be able to talk about how things "really are" rather than joking and reassuring family, friends and co-workers so that they are not freaked out.

Just when I think I'm back on track, I'll have a day where I feel "off" or tired again. My husband tries to understand exactly what "off" means, but as you all know, it's a concept that's pretty much indescribable to those not battery oper...

Beating the beta blockers!

Hi allan here (41) Edinburgh

Well just completed my second 6 mile walk this week and although I have to admit I felt hellish halfway through the second one i did it.
If I have to learn how to walk again in this new zombie like world of mud I will because I am sure the exercise does me good it sure as hell clears the head.
From now on I am gonna try to be more positive as it is easy to forget the way I felt before i got the pacemaker-

I used to have weeks w...

bra pad

Bra, Hi, It is advertised on this site, under the soft touch. Have not used it yet but I know what you are saying. Also try to wear a bra where the clips are in the back instead of the front. This will relieve the pressure on your site. Good luck jbkeys

If its going to happen, it will happen to me!

I have a long history of medical problems eg. ovarian cysts, hysterectomy, bowel rupture resulting in 2 failed colostomy's and a functioning ileostomy up till 2000. While walking my dog in the park about 3 years ago I had a sudden episode of really rapid heart rate. I went to the doctor the next day and was fobbed off with it being a panic attack. This I knew was not what had happened so made another appointment with my regular GP and she referred me to the local hospital cardiac clinic. After m...

Guidant

Hi Anyone

Just read Carol's posting about her rep for the PM. Does anyone know if there is a Guidant Rep and whether they have the same knowledge.

Would just like to get rid of the odd heart beat and maybe a rep from Guidant would know.

By the way really pleased for you Carol. Fantastic.

Opti Vol on Medtronic Concerto ICD

G'day Readers
I have a bedside monitor which recently showed an alarm. My cardiologist reset the trigger bar but it has since gone off again.
My fluid trend graph shows fluid build but I have no other signs and, besides tiredness, I actually feel pretty good.
I'm told that this particular feature in this remarkable technology does not suit everyone and in my case has been turned off. Blood tests have confirmed all OK.
I have a leukemia related issue (polycythema Vera), plus d...
