My heart's back...

I recently posted a message about my heart trying to beat on its own again. I'll try to be more clear this time. In May of 2001, I was fitted for a pacemaker because of complete heart block. I had recently had an ablation done to try to correct dangerous arrythmias which was successful but my heart decided it didn't want to beat no more than 23 bpm after the procedure, so I was then fitted for a pacemaker. After all those years and 2 pacemakers later, my heart had gotten worse and wasn't beating...

What a difference!

I got my pacemaker/ICD in January 2008. A month before that I scored a 10 on my stress test, which is apparently a huge red flag that you're headed for a heart transplant. A healthy person my size should score a 28. I know a transplant is an eventual reality for me, but I sure want to put it off as long as possible (I'm only 35 and have dealt with heart issues since birth).

Well, last week I took the stress test again and scored a 14! A 40% increase in 5 months. Woohoo!!! My doct...

My constant battle

I am constanly trying to prove I am not a hypochondriac to my cardiologist. I have had a pacemaker but for the last year and a half I have had a constant pain surrounding my medtronic kappa 901 pacemaker. I have a tight pain and shooting pains in my left arm and in my left back side. I don't know what to do, because my cardio just says it is in my head and that it isn't "normal" to have pains like this. I often start to have a constriction in my chest and and I get really dizzy from it. Can you...

Celebrating Being Special

Hi there fella pacer dudes

I'm feeling a bit tired and anxious since being told I've got to go in and have my battery changed the week before last. I live in the UK so I'm lucky there - it's all free of charge. I think the tiredness is psychological, but I'm surprised I'm feeling anxious as this will be battery No.4 for me and I'm only 37. I've been given the 29th July as my op date. It's the day after my birthday, so how pants is that with the possibility of being nil-by-mouth on...

vasovagal syncope - 2nd Opinion?

Hi Guys,

I know that it is essentially up to us whether or not we decide to get a PM. But for me, I have the vasovagal syncope issue and therefore I have one of my cardiologists stating that I defiinitely need a PM and he works at Stanford and also confirmed this w/ other Stanford cardiologists and they all agree, yes.
This weekend, I had another bad dizzy spell and went into a different hospital and the cardiologists there stated, at my age 31, I should be looking into preventi...

Divorce and new relationships with PM

I am looking for a bit of support. Sorry if I drone on.

I have just gotten divorced. It was not something I wanted, but, due to the circumstances, it had to happen. I can't say that "I am already looking for someone" I know there is a lot of healing to be done before I can even think about that.

However, my question is this. Is it fair for me to start a new relationship with someone since I have a serious heart condition? Also, I am 42, does anyone even want that ty...

My heart's back...

Hello all. I went to have my interrogation the other day and the nurse that does the interrogation found something that shocked the both of us. When she was checking my battery she noticed that my heart was trying to beat on its own. You have to understand that I had an AV ablation trying to fix my fast irregular heartbeats and after that my lower heart wouldn't do anything, so now I have 'my little friend'. She adjusted it where the pacemaker would only kick in when my heart wouldn't beat after...

How paranoid should I be?

I just had an ICD put in on Thursday afternoon. So far, I have had no problems with recovery. The pain was minimal, and I even went out to eat with friends Friday night. I have even been able to sleep on my right side with a pillow under my arm.

My girlfriend is very concerned about me lifting my left arm. I am trying to be careful with this, but as you know you can sometimes forget. I know all the restrictions that are issued after implantation. Has anyone had one of the leads come o...

I came home and had to go back to ER due to Allergic reaction to the Dressing, caused me to have blisters on the outline of the dressing. Now I'm back home and now when i take a deep breath or laugh, i have a pain in the middle of my chest like I was intubated or something. It hurts kinda bad, They did a Xray before I left, could it be possible to have my EP doc told me today that if any th...
