Hi, All, I was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome 8 years ago and had my second Medtronic pacemaker implanted January 2008. At this point, I'm doing phone checks every 2 months with the pacemaker center at my hospital. The problem is, these pacemaker checks are the only reason I need to have a home telephone. I'd much rather just have a cell phone and save $50/month, but I've been told the checks have to be done on a land line. Anyone have any experience with this or suggestions? Any comments w...

I am currently taking 25 mg Coreg & 5 mg Lisinopril after having my implant 2 months ago. I'm also 54 YO and postmeno. I had the occasional hot flash (power surge!) prior to all this but now it's just nuts! I feel them coming on & grab my fan to try & head them off - sometimes it works, sometimes not. The above meds are the only change (besides the little hunk of metal in my chest) that I've made. Thank God fall is here! I'm not wild about winter but this year it's looking pretty good! Could the...

Hey there everybody in "electronic" land. I've been out for a few days, and I'm trying to catch up on what's been going on.
I'm a month post implant and have been getting horrible night sweats, chills, and it seems like I can't shake this fever. I got a sinus infection a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping that it's my sinuses and not anything to do with my pacemaker. My doctors haven't even mentioned that, although it's something that's crossed my mind, and is a concern to me.
What do ya'l...

An elderly patient needed a heart transplant and discussed his options with his doctor.
The doctor said, "We have three possible donors; tell me which one you want to use.
One is a young, healthy athlete who died in an automobile accident.
The second is a middle-aged businessman who never drank or smoked and who died in his private plane.
The third is a hospital administrator who just died after 30 years of service at the large medical center." " I'll take the administrator's...

Hey there everyone. I'm a 30 year old F diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and LBBB (left bundle branch block). I just had my ICD installed yesterday (YES, YESTERDAY). Hi all,
I was on my check-up on Monday. I have got single chamber
pacemaker, so it stimulates just my ventricles. I have got inappropriate sinus tachycardia with average heart beat about 130-140/min (during 24 hours holter monitoring) and then I have multifocal SV tachycardia (from 180 till 250/min) and one time I had ventricular arythmia as well, so I was on 5 RF ablations and at the end of the fifth ablation they had to destroy my AV node... So I have got third degree AV block...
Hallooooo ;-)

Hi all,
As I wrote in an earlier post ProLine Sports (www.proline-sports.co.uk) a company in Cardiff (UK) has agreed to make a protective cover for me when I am doing judo. I think its only right and fair to give them some publicity as a small gesture of thanks, and hopefully if anyone else out there reads this will try them.
As I said I tried most of the bigger sports goods suppliers (who will remain nameless) who tended to be totally uninterested.
If you're into contact sport, d...

I am just looking for information in case I needed the replacement in the future.
My pacer went into ERI mode on 8/30, there is no plan for a replacement yet. While sitting here waiting for an answer from the doctor, I want to know if there are any pacer that is smaller than what I have now (Medtronic Thera i DR). I am not a big person and consider slim, I just don't want another BIG scar on my chest, I show the doctor my scar and he said it is big indeed.

hi all,
Had this happen to me today, I worked all day and was exhausted. When I got home all I could do was sit down, kinda light headed but mainly extreme fatigue, so I took my HR and it was in high 50's but I noticed a pause every few beats. I also recently experienced chest pain on inhalation while I was on my walk adn light headedness, I barely finished my walk but was fine the next day. I've had my PM x 10 yrs., with my generator replaced 2006 plus an extra lead placed at that time....

i cant quite figure this out--when i'm at rest i have an underlying SOB and what i assume are PAC/PAV (a quivering sensation followed by a longish pause) usually I get 2-4 in a row then back to normal rhythm. but when i exercise i feel good (for the most part) i'm in normal rhythm and little or no SOB--so whats happening here? maybe i just need to be in perpetual motion for the rest of my life :)
i have 3rd degree HB and also on meds (propafenone and atenolol)

I have my pacemaker implanted on 8/14/08. It's about 4 1/2 weeks now. I still have such a lack of energy!! Yes, I live in hot, hot, Florida and am overweight. I had always blamed that on how I felt before knowing I actually had a slow heartrate.
Now, when should I start to feel like I am getting more energy? I went to the doctor's last week, but he wasn't in and I saw a nurse practitioner that I never saw before. Long story short, I wasn't 100% happy with the visit. I talked...

Hi:
I am a new member with a new pacemaker. (9/11/2008). I am having some difficulty with florescent lights (dizziness) and some pain in the middle of my chest with dizziness. In addition occasionally it feels like I have a great big heart beat in my back just above my waist on the left side.. This is all so strange because until last week I thought I just had some fatigue and a very slow heartbeat. Every time I monitor my pacemaker it appears that it is right at 60. I am doing a follow up...

just had my 3rd check up and everything seems to be on track. They changed 2 settings and am just wondering what they mean-the atrial lead and the ventricular lead had 'capture management' turned from off to adaptive. They also said they turned on the self check feature of the PM---what exactly does this do? it runs at 1 am everyday
