Sweating

I noticed over the past few days alot of you have been asking about excessive sweating. I had the same problem for about a month. I have a PM. I also had fatigue, and shortness of breath, fast heart rate. I told my cardiologist and he just increased my meds. Any time I helped my wife do chores like dishes, laundry, sweeping floor, I would have to stop after only a few minutes. Even just walking around the block or at the mall. I eventually went into the hospital when my HR got to 185 beats per m...

Just wondered if anyone knew of any complications or if this is a bad idea, dont know if it would effect the ICD or not and I cant find anything online. Thank You!

Avoiding people with chest infections/cold etc!!!!

Hello everyone! Not been on here for a while! Hope you are all well and behaving!!!!

Anyway - crazy question, as always with me....... My mother-in-law is in hospital with a severe chest infection and possible pnemonia (excuse spelling!) anyway, my hubby is currently in California, and she doesn't have many other people visiting. I spoke to the ward sister and she tells me that the ward she is on is full of people with respitorary problems too!! She advised me not to go in!

Heart's Energy May One Day Power Pacemakers, Defibrillators

By Alex Nussbaum
Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- A beating heart's excess energy was tapped by British scientists in a first step toward extending the life of batteries that power pacemakers and other medical devices.

A generator inserted into a pig's heart on the tip of a wire produced 4.3 microjoules of electricity, about a fifth the energy needed to fuel a pacemaker and enough to help recharge its battery, researchers said in a study released at the American Heart Association's annual...

I have a Guidant Pulsar -Max2 -Model 1280 at 24/7 pacing 100%.

new study: earbud interference

This is a quote from an article in yesterday's Toronto Star:
"In research presented today at a major heart conference in New Orleans, Harvard University scientists said headphones, most commonly used for digital players, can interfere with implanted pacemakers and defibrillators if placed in close proximity."

Am I being unrealistic?

I go for my PM next week. I'm 35, two small kids (2 & 4), work full time in an office job. My doc said I could go back to work as soon as a couple of days after the surgery. Is that unrealistic? I will go on Friday, 11/21 and PLAN to go back to work on Monday. I'll only do two days then off the rest of the week for Thanksgiving.

My biggest concern about the whole deal right now is what to expect for recovery and being able to 1) do what I need to for my kids and 2) get back to...

I had my 2nd surgery

Well, I had my 2nd surgery last Thursday to have my ICD repositioned. It was quite an experience. It took almost 2 hours because they decided to fix one of the leads while they were in there that had been causing diaphragmatic spasms and they had to cut out the old scar that was what they called keloid scaring (swollen and very sore to the touch)??! I was awake for most of the surgery so I was able to tell them when I no longer felt the spasms....and I did feel some pain even though I was pretty...

Boy, the more I read, the more calm and reassured I am and then the more stressed and freaked out I am. I go for my PM next Friday and just when I think all I've read and considered about the whole deal have me feeling pretty ok with it all, I read something that gets me panicked all over again. Mostly recovery, but some concern about having leads removed one day (I'm only 35, so the chance is greater the longer I have them, I'm sure), infection, etc. In alot of ways I'll be glad to just have...

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
