I'd like to run a Van de Graaff experiment in my class, but there are places that suggest that's inadvisable.

I am due shortly to have my 10 year old St Jude dual chambered pacemaker replaced (being in ERI) and have had the bedside Merlin unit connected to our home landline doing the monitoring (cellular became at option at one point but required a monthly subscription and AT&T signals are poor in our area so I've kept with landline). This has worked well, except that we travel internationally to see friends/family for over two weeks at a time several times per year--during which there is no...

I am a 50 yo man and I had a biotronic PM (dual chamber) put in 2 days ago. This is my first PM and it was put in only for a slow heart rate. I was symptomatic with lightheadedness and lack of energy. It went in without complications.
This morning my wife was driving me to church and after about 10 minutes in the car I felt a very strong weird feeling and my Apple watch told me my HR was at 120 bpm. It was VERY uncomfortable and within a few minutes it went back...

I had my pacemaker inserted due to having episodes of fainting. These faints seemingly happened randomly, but something that was at least consistent was that they'd happen after smoking marijuana. The last episode of this happening was when my heart stopped for 4 seconds, beat a few times, and then again for 6 times, before beating normally again. I had dropped to the ground, falling backwards. I could feel myself feeling faint, and it happened extremely quickly after smoking, however, I...

Had pacemaker implanted almost 3 weeks ago. Dr. also put me on propafenon - 1 every 12 hours. Was so wiped out, couldn't sleep at night then slept during day. Head congested, constipated. So Dr. changed it to 1 a day. We will see if that makes a difference. My question is, if I have a Pacemaker why do I need a med as well. My blood pressure has always been on the lower end.

I had my CRT-D replaced last November and since then I have had 3 flair ups of infection in the implant site. So they are now going to monitor the next flair up which more than likely will occur in the next few days now that I finished the antibiotics. So they are talking about a site change and system swap out which includes the three leads. One lead has been in for 14 years and the other 2 for 7 years. Admittedly the lead swap out was a bit of a suprise and worrying!...

Hello everyone, Gemita’s husband Michael here. I have been a member of this Club since 2018 but have not posted before. Just wanted to come along with my own pacemaker Success Story. I am 84 so perhaps I should be slowing down but my nature is always to push myself to do more, to try out something new, since I have been active all my life.
Before getting my pacemaker, I experienced a number of syncope episodes without warning. These s...

I was just wondering if anyone takes this medicine and is 100% dependent and takes this med. I'm starting it tomorrow for my Innapropriate Sinus Tachycardia, my EP is very highly rated and so must know what she is doing. It states that 1 in 10 suffer from irregular rapid contraction of the heart and that you shouldn't take it if you dependent on your pacemaker. Has anyone ever had worsening arrhythmias taking this drug? I asked my EP and she said she has never heard of it but 1 in 10...

Hi. Thought I would also add my success story. My resting heart rate always sat around 65. I am in good health, I take no medication. Active. We still ride a motorcycle. Nov. 16 th of 2022, my resting heart rate started dropping, about 3 bpm. Every day. It showed up on my Fitbit. On Nov. 25, I phoned our health link as my heart rate had dropped 38 bpm and talked to the RN, she told me to go to emergency. It was just a whirl wind after that. I was sent to CCU, where my h...

I have a dual chamber pacemaker to treat my 3rd degree heart block. I have had my pacemaker for 5 years and I am pacer dependent. I had my yearly checkup today and all looked good and hopefully I have about 3 more years until replacement, however my Cardiologist ordered a echocardiogram to check on my heart function. He said because I am pacer dependent that it can affect how well my heart functions,. He asked if I had swelling, issues laying flat ect.which I...

I have had a tighness in the neck & prominent jugular veins for 2-3 weeks. I've had a CT scan that was clear. I'm obviously not imagining the symptoms. I wondered if any one has any ideas of what this may be? I have a single lead ICD with a lead revision 6 months ago after a failure.

Is wearing a medic alert bracelet advisable? Has anyone tried the silicone ones? and if so, where did you get it?
What information do you include besides name and the word pacemaker?
Thanks

I often say that I have seen the best heart doctor in my city, which doesn't mean I have seen the best heart doctor. I have a PM because after much testing for the reason it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest during any kind of exertion it was discovered that my pulse was not keeping up with me. Electrical malfunction was how it was explained. Or sick sinus bradycardia. I will admit it is better now. However, after many adjustments I still can't perf...

Hi all...
I went to my ER on Friday early AM with what I thought was food poisoning from a dodgy Harvey's, and 12 hours later after a code blue, I had a pacemaker fitted.
I had a complete heart block, I'm 48 female, with no prior issues in my health or heart, no high cholesterol or blood pressure .. so I'm reeling at the moment. The cardiologist had no answers as to why this happened but is willing to keep investigating.
Things feel very differe...
