High blood pressure
Hi everyone, you have all kept me going this last 2.5 weeks since i started pacing. I'm the one who went into total heart block whilst having lipo on my legs.

my story well when i was born i had hole in heart and didnt have tube where spose be one.
when i was 6 they operated on me fixin hole and puttin a tube in. the operation was 43 year ago.
untill i was bout 12 i couldnt do much after 12 i did anything i wanted to.
well oct 23 i had get pacemaker put in my heart was flutterin spedin up alot then slowin down.

hello to all, I just found this site.I just recieved my pacemaker on10/27/08 and I am still short of breath and having some dizziness still.My BP is running a little low at times.Down to 95/58 at lowest today.The pacer is keeping my heart-rate above 60 though. Before the pacer my HR was downin the 20s-30s.Is anyone else still feeling crippled?I am supposed to return to work on December 1st and I am very concerned I wont be able to cut it? I am a CNA in assisted living facility.

I am 84 and I got my PM 2 years ago because my heart rate was to slow and always tired,,It has helped me a lot but I still can't do as much as I use to..probably my age has a lot to do with it.. But I don't even know i have one until I take a shower and then I realize it is there...It has been great for me....so age should have no bearing... weather you have a PM..
Reading...Reducing/Increasing Stress
Boy, the more I read, the more calm and reassured I am and then the more stressed and freaked out I am. I go for my PM next Friday and just when I think all I've read and considered about the whole deal have me feeling pretty ok with it all, I read something that gets me panicked all over again. Mostly recovery, but some concern about having leads removed one day (I'm only 35, so the chance is greater the longer I have them, I'm sure), infection, etc. In alot of ways I'll be glad to just have...
Good Advice
I appreciate all the good advice from everyone. I am just so scared of being excepted. I didnt have to worry about it when I was married because we were already together. But dating someone new is very scary. I never knew there was so many young people having pm until I found this site. I got mine when I was 26. I am now 39 and I am always the youngest person in the waiting room when I go for my check-ups. I am afraid that I am not as attractive with the pm.

I noticed some comments regarding excessive sweating. I have had a pacemaker since 1999 with a replacement in 2006. I am also on Toprol and Lisinopril, take thyroid replacement and supplemental potassium. I have experienced facial and scalp sweating for quite some time. It is excessive to the point of actually dripping from both my forehead and my hair. Im 29 and since sept. 26 have been fighting NOT to get a pacemaker implanted. I have a loop recorder in (put in Oct.1st) i had a negative tilt table test, a sound EP study, and i just recieved my results that i dont have sleep apnea. So all my tests are good, but for whatever reason my heart pauses for up to 4-5 secs while im sleewping, several times a night. My heart rate drops to the 30's. I just need to vent. I am doing a lot better than when I posted for the first time last year. I was suffering from depression, anxiety, shortness of breath, and just downright hopelessness.

Hi everyone im 15 and got a pacemaker in may of 2008. ihad a very hard time coping.I got tired of ppl telling me how lucky i was or i should be greatfull but honestly i was the opposite. it has gotten better and i have learned to not let the scar bother me to much. i am tired of ppl treating me like im am going to break. i was hopping i could find some ppl in there teens or 20's who understand what i am going through. any tips or encouragment wuld be greatly appreciated!

Well I officially dont have a job now, the place I work fired me tuesday for absentisim, exhausted all my fmla, and they used the missing five days and no job. Nice family orentated business, have high risk bypass, pm/defib installed. Oh well Ill collect my disability and try and get better. Still haveing shortness of breath just walking, doc is adjusting my meds now. I guess now Ill enjoy just being alive, take my meds, do my walks, maybe go fishing once in awhile, might try golfing but Im stil...
Another newbie!
After a whirl wind month, I received a dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker last week. It seemed to happen so fast and now I'm not sure what to expect for recovery.
The last few years have been crazy...at age 45 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug. 06, went through bilateral mastectomy and 6 months of chemo.
Now, this pacemaker. I have learned alot about cancer but don't know about pacemakers. I feel better but still have episodes of lightheadedness and fatigue...
Still Struggling
I've had the pacemaker now for a couple of months and I'm sorry to say I still haven't made peace with it. It still hurts and I scarred awfully. Its possible that I had a reaction to the disolvable stitches. Either way it looks awful and I'm not pleased.
