PACEMAKER POSSIBILITIES

Thanks to modern technoiogy, I will be celebrating my seventy-ninth in April. I received my pacmaker in August of 2019, and have gotten used to pacing myself, a small price to pay when you consider the benefit. My wife and I are planning a major adventure, we're taking a thirty day trip across the U.S.A. starting on April 2, 2021. I intend to spend my birthday at the Grand Canyon. We intended to do this trip last year, but were prevented by the pandemic.

Well I'm...

Stinging and discomfort after 4 months

I've had my Medtronic  PM for 4 months but I still have lots of stinging, discomfort and soreness. I've called my surgeons office and seen him several but they want me to give it six months. It's very frustrating because I had absolutely no symptoms except tiredness before my implantation and now I've had four months of discomfort and stinging. Anybody else had this? Suggestions for dealing with it.

Post PM Living and Fears

Good evening. New here. I am three weeks into having my PM and I love it BUT I can't get past the fears of leaving my house or hotel room (comfort zones). I have been told by my cardiologist and my echocardio doctor that this is normal and nothing is going to happen to me. I have VERY high anxiety issues. Please feed me some good insight please. This is driving me insane.

Thank you all.

Soreness

Can anyone speak to how long the pacemaker site remains tender to the touch.  It's been 3 months now since the surgery.  I'm a tiny person and am wondering if that has anything to do with it?  I've seen the doctor and now 2 PTs and an orthopedic and they all just shrug their shoulders.

Worried

I've only had my icd for about 3 months now. My cardiologist and surgeon stated I'll have a normal life, well it doesn't feel normal. Very little pressure in my upper chest, lower throat after I eat,, a little pains around my icd and the right side of my chest, a little light-headed. The weird thing is when I walk I feel ok. Is this normal? My pc and cardiologist said everything looks and sounds good. My pc did order a ct I'm just waiting for the results.

How am I...

Over A Year Since Implantation & Still Uncomfortable Sleeping

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well in the new year. I just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced discomfort still after a year?

It's uncomfortable to lay on my left side and stomach to sleep. And sometimes there's a dull pain. It's so apparent in my daily life. I was wondering will this ever truly go away or is this something I just have to deal with?

I would truly appreciate any insight or personal experiences regarding this topic. Thank you in advance :)

Memory Loss, Life After Death

I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in May of 2020 at the age of 25. I've since gotten back to work and back into the gym, but there is something that is becoming obvious to me; my short term memory isn't what it once was. I find it hard to remember names, numbers, and what I went into a room to do. At work I notice that I will forget measurements or what step of a process that I am at. It's really been eating at me. Especially today after my foreman started pointing out...

This too shall pass--I hope!

Had to come back & read some past messages about getting through the first few weeks/months to remind myself that things WILL get better over time. I'm two weeks in tomorrow & healing well physically, but this morning has been rough! I am having frequent dizzy spells, some just about as bad as when I was experiencing pauses. I try to walk every morning, but right now I'm thinking I need to just go back to bed & see if that helps. Two steps forward, one step back (or o...

Soon to be connected

A hello from south of France.

I found out last november (2020) in the local emergency hospital, that I have serious heart failure - dilated left ventricule cardiomyopathy, with acute pulmonary edema, and I am lucky to have survived.

Im 55 years young, and never had any health issue before. After 3 months, and non satisfactory improvement with meds, I will have my pacemaker/icd (CRT-D) installed in just a few weeks.

I know my heart and I will be better, and I must admit I m r...

Pacemaker Aches (and Pains)

My Pacemaker was installed back in October, 2020. To make a VERY long story short, I had  immediate (and painful) complications with the placement of the bottom lead which was tweaked   repeatedly, then repositioned (twice), and then (when all that didn't solve the problem) was just simply shut off. My Electrophysiologist says I am incredibly sensitive to the bottom lead when it paces, so  you'd think that shutting of the bottom would do the trick, and it has&mdash...

Thanks!

To those who replied so quickly, and those who may read & respond in days ahead: Thank you for all of the wisdom & encouragement!

I was feeling quite negative about my experience, but now I can see there may be light at the end of the tunnel. It makes sense that there would be adjustment time--for me & for my heart! I think what really bothered me the most was the fact that I had already fought through afib symptoms (with help--a long road of cardioversion, then ablation &am...

New to this & not really happy

Hi to all!

I am only 1 week from impant (just had my "wound check" appt & it's healing well). My biggest problem is the total lack of instruction/education that has been made available to me about a device that is now inside my body & connected to my heart!

My doctor was pretty good about explaining the reasons for the pacemaker & the expected outcome. I am in a-fib about 13% of the time--that's with medication (tikosyn)--but when going in &...

ARE WE ABOUT TO RUN OUT OF PACEMAKERS?

Good Evening, I havent been on this site for quite a while. I live in the UK across the pond. I am a little worried that the heath service will not replace my pacemaker in about 3 years time. And being totally dependant on it due to an AV node ablation proceedure. The pandemic is causing chaos in the health service and i think we may have to live with it which our governments dont yet understand. I suspect the helth service will go bancrupt . Peter

Three years ago now.
